Toke Makinwa offers to help 1 woman suffering from fibroids

Have you been wondering why Toke Makinwa has been missing from public view in recent times, the famous media personality revealed that she recently had surgery to remove fibroids from her body. Writing via Instagram, Toke detailed how 12 fibroids were removed from her body. She decided to go for the surgery after years of dodging. As a result of her experience, she announced a plan to help one woman suffering from the ailment. According to obgyn.ucla.edu, fibroids, also known as uterine myomas, leiomyomas, or fibromas, are firm, compact tumors that are made of smooth muscle cells and fibrous connective tissue that develop in the uterus. It is estimated that between 20 to 50 percent of women of reproductive age have fibroids, although not all are diagnosed.

12 was the number of Fibroids I had taken out of me on the 3rd of April. Since I opened up about my surgery I have had so many people reach out to me with various questions, I have also read from so many people who have gone through the same procedure. It’s such a crazy experience, I don’t wish it on anyone. My road to recovery has been one of grace and I’m thankful for it all. God has really just done the most. Thank you all for the prayers, the lovely messages, they kept me going❤️ I know a lot of people are scared of surgery and most importantly scared of getting surgery of any kind done back home in Nigeria. I was one of them, It took me years to brave up, I managed and managed and things were not getting better, I’ll meet with my doctor, schedule an appointment and run away. Please note, not all cases of fibroids require surgery, it’s quite popular among black women and if it doesn’t bother you, if it’s not obstructing anything pls don’t go the surgery route. I’m not a doctor, I only share my experience to help anyone out there dealing with it, first thing is to see your doctor, I’ve been asked questions like is it safe? It is only God that can guarantee our safety. I have decided to support one lucky female dealing with this ailment, I wish I could do more but I’m comforted knowing there will be #1lesswoman dealing with issues of fibroids so if you know anyone who desperately needs the surgery and for some reason cannot afford to get it done, pls send us an email -Tokemakinwa@gmail.com.”

Adeosun blocks revenue leakages, improves tax revenue

Mrs Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Finance, has succeeded in developing and implementing fiscal policies to curtail wastages in governance, thereby reducing fiscal leakages and boosting government’s non-oil revenue.

Mr Oluyinka Akintunde, Special Adviser to Adeosun on Media and Communications, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, on the achievements of the Minister since her assumption of office in November, 2015.

Akintunde said Adeosun also introduced the Efficiency Unit, which succeeded in bringing down overhead costs in many Federal Government’s Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs).

He said the implementation of the Treasury Single Account, which was conceived by the previous administration, but implemented by the present, had made it easier to effectively track government’s revenues.

In addition, Akintunde said Adeosun introduced the Whistle-blower Policy launched in December, 2016 to encourage public participation in the fight against corruption.

“Under the Whistle-blower Policy, the Federal Government has recovered N7.8 billion, 378 million dollars and 27,800 Pounds Sterling.

“In May 2018, the government paid about N439.27 million to 14 whistleblowers who gave specific tips on tax evasion,” he said.
Akintunde also said in June 29, 2017, the Federal Government launched the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) to improve tax compliance in the country.

He recalled that through VAIDS, tax payers were offered a window of opportunity to regularise their tax status relating to previous tax periods, without incurring penalties.

“The robust implementation of VAIDS has seen an increase in the number of tax payers from 13 million before the assumption of Office by the incumbent Administration to 14 million in 2016 and 19.3 million in 2018.

“It is instructive to note that some local and foreign companies are now disposed to the VAIDS initiative, and have started to regularise their tax status,” he said.
Furthermore, Akintunde said Adeosun had succeeded in clearing some of the pension liabilities it inherited from the previous administration.

“N41.5 billion was released by the Federal Ministry of Finance to pay off outstanding pensions arrears of 2014, 2015 and 2016, while N12.5 billion was paid out to clear pension claims for up to March, 2017.

“This brings the total payment of outstanding pension arrears by the current administration to over N54 billion; an unprecedented feat, which has been commended by the various workers’ unions,” he said.

Akintunde also said the establishment of the N396.5 billion Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) was part of Adeosun’s achievements.

“Already, the DBN has a N5 billion line of credit to be accessed by MSMEs through its partner institutions,” he said.

Akintunde also said the minister was responsible for the debt refinancing strategy to better manage existing debt and the Fiscal Sustainability Plans and Budget Support Facility for States of the Federation.

“It is very evident that the Federal Ministry of Finance, under the dynamic leadership of Mrs Adeosun has stepped up the tempo in addressing the myriads of economic challenges.

“She has taken seriously, her job of reflating an economy that was badly battered by years of mismanagement, fiscal leakages, depleted reserves and poor budget performance.

“She has remained very innovative in churning out reform policies and initiatives that have helped, in no small measure, to stabilising the Nigerian economy, and putting it on the path of sustained growth,” he said.

He said the minister played a leading role in setting up the Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA), which oversees the utilisation of public funds under the present administration.

Here’s Morgan Freeman’s ‘creepy’ comments to female reporters that started his ‘sexual assault’ scandal

Here

A CNN report on Thursday revealed claims by eight women who alleged that Morgan Freeman had either spoken to them inappropriately, ‘touched’ them without them wanting him to or, in one of the most severe cases, lifted up their skirts.

The actor issued an apology after the report emerged and said he never intended to make any of the women feel uncomfortable.  But afterwards, as he was dumped by sponsors including Visa and as his legendary acting career was momentarily eclipsed by the scandal, he spoke out again.

All these came after Entertainment Tonight dug up old interview clips in its archives which show Morgan Freeman speaking to young female reporters in a suggestive way.

In one clip, Freeman asks ET correspondent Ashley Crossan if she is married as they sat down for an interview in 2016. ‘You fool around with older guys?’ Freeman asks when Crossan replies that she is unmarried. Crossan laughs but does not otherwise acknowledge the remark.

The second uncomfortable incident occurred in 2015, when ET special correspondent Janet Mock interviewed Freeman ahead of his film Five Flights Up.  ‘I don’t know how you all manage to do that all the time,’ Freeman says as Mock sits down to begin the interview.  You got a dress halfway between your knee and your hips, and you sit down right across from me and you cross your legs’.

Below are Morgan Freeman’s statements on the sexual harassment claims so far,,,

Thursday:

‘Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy.  I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.’

Friday:

‘Morgan Freeman issued the following statement through his publicist on Friday May 25, 2018:  ‘I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday’s media reports.  ‘All victims of assault and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to listen to them. But it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor.

I admit that I am someone who feels a need to try to make women—and men—feel appreciated and at ease around me. As a part of that, I would often try to joke with and compliment women, in what I thought was a light-hearted and humorous way.  Clearly I was not always coming across the way I intended. And that is why I apologized Thursday and will continue to apologize to anyone I might have upset, however unintentionally.

But I also want to be clear: I did not create unsafe work environments. I did not assault women. I did not offer employment or advancement in exchange for sex. Any suggestion that I did so is completely false.’

Cristiano Ronaldo hints he could quit Real Madrid after winning 4th Champions League cup with the club

Cristiano Ronaldo hints he could quit Real Madrid after winning 4th Champions League cup with the club

Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a huge hint that he could be on his way out of Real Madrid right after he won his third consecutive Champions League title and 13th overall on Saturday night after beating Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev.

Speaking following the final whistle in Ukraine, Ronaldo said: ‘In the coming days there will be answer about my future. It has been very nice playing for Real Madrid. In the next few days I will give an answer. Now we have to enjoy the moment. The future of any player is not important. We have made history.’

Ronaldo later rued his actions, saying: ‘Perhaps I should not have said what I said. Now I prefer to wait and enjoy the victory. In a few days I will talk about my future. I did not want to take away merit for what has been done. It is something extraordinary. It’s a unique moment and you have to enjoy it.’

The former Manchester United forward moved to the Bernabeu after joining in 2009 and has enjoyed a stellar career at Madrid, where he has become arguably the greatest player in the world.  The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away from Spain on a number of occasions in the past but has always stayed put.

‘Nigeria has been declared a Pathfinding Country on Ending Violence Against Children’ – President Buhari says in Children’s day message

President Buhari in his 2018 ‘Childrens Day’ message has said, ‘Nigeria has been declared a Pathfinding Country on Ending Violence Against Children’.

The president also added that, ‘I am very impressed by what our children have been able to do, and what the future holds for them. That is one reason why we are committed to the school feeding programme, to prepare a future generation of physically and intellectually robust children’.

See his full message below…

Today affords me another opportunity to re-affirm our Administration’s commitment to the protection of children, a day to reflect on our roles and responsibilities as Parents and Leaders towards our children, and also assessing how far we have fared in this regard.

As you may recall, one of the cardinal objectives of this Administration is the provision of quality education to our children as a fundamental foundation of economic and social development. In this regard, I am pleased to inform you that this Administration has recorded measurable success in the home grown school feeding programme as it has continued to expand.

Our children are our future, and the initiatives that come from them give confidence that our country has a bright future.

I am always inspired and encouraged when I remember encounters I had with three of our young ones. When I was on medical vacation in 2017, three year old Maya Jammal recorded a prayer for my recovery, which went viral online.

Also, 10 year old Aisha Aliyu Gebbi wrote a personal letter to me, describing herself as my “biggest fan”.

Nicole Benson, then 12 years old, had contributed the sum of Five Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira and Eighty-Five kobo (N5,700.85) to my campaign in 2015. The money was all saved up from her lunch and pocket allowance. There are millions of such children nationwide.

I am very impressed by what our children have been able to do, and what the future holds for them. That is one reason why we are committed to the school feeding programme, to prepare a future generation of physically and intellectually robust children. At the last count, over 8.2 million children in 24 states of the Federation are being given free meals daily. This happens in 45,000 schools round the country.

I therefore call on all stakeholders to support this programme to ensure that all the 36 States of the Federation and FCT are covered. This will promote substantially higher enrolment levels in our schools.

Since its inception in May, 2015, this Administration has also focused attention on addressing issues of child protection, participation and survival. In 2015, the campaign to end violence against children was launched which was commemorated in 2016. In November 2016, the Campaign to End Child Marriage was also launched to ensure that as many children as possible are able to fully enjoy their childhood and be protected from all the challenges associated with this phenomenon. These campaigns have been reinforced with sensitization campaigns in some States of the Federation.

The theme for this year’s celebration “Creating Safe Spaces for Children: Our Collective Responsibility” is an opportunity to promote the safety and security of our children. As a responsible Government, we are committed to ensuring that children are protected from violence and exploitation against them, and, that their environments are safe enough for them to pursue their educational attainments, discover their full potentials to grow into responsible citizens.

This Administration has made giant strides in the protection of the Rights of the Nigerian Child and as a result of such efforts, Nigeria has been declared a Pathfinding Country on Ending Violence Against Children. This I believe is a collective achievement and I urge us to continue to build on the present momentum to achieve the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In our efforts to protect our children from abuse, exploitation and trafficking as well as provide safe, non-violent inclusive and effective learning environment in our schools, this Administration has directed the management of all Federal Government Colleges and advised all state owned schools across the Country to provide adequate measures of safety and security of their students. I again call on all schools management committees at all levels of public and private institutions to take adequate security measures and put in place mechanisms for safety of children.

May I therefore call on the Families, Security Agencies, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Civil Society Organizations, Human Rights Activists, and the Society at large to rise up and take urgent and decisive actions to stem the unacceptable rising cases of violence against our children. We must ensure safety of our children in homes, schools, markets, worship centres, on the streets and everywhere at all times.

Furthermore let me use this medium to appeal to parents not to relent in their efforts to send their wards to school, especially the girl child as her education reduces infant and maternal mortality and prevents early and child marriages. It also increases literacy and reduces poverty. The saying that to educate a woman is to educate the nation is very apt in this regard.

Finally, while I appreciate the security agencies for their efforts so far, I urge them to redouble their efforts in protecting children from danger and violence in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Child Rights Acts, 2003.

Once again, happy Children’s Day.
