”This is a disgusting and insensitive post” BankyW comes for filmmaker, Niyi Akinmolayan, over his post on suicide victims

Earlier today, filmmaker, Niyi Akinmolayan, shared a post on his IG page in which he stated that some people just might have committed suicide because they are done with the world and not out of depression. He shared his opinion about suicide in the wake of the death of two international celebrities, Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdian who both committed suicide a week apart.

Banky W felt Niyi’s opinion on suicide is disgusting and shouldn’t have been aired as it was very insensitive to the families and loved ones the suicide victims left behind.

Niyi on the other hand is insisting that suicide victims should not be painted in a bad light when they are gone because some of them might have just taken the decision in good faith. See their exchanges below

Three Soldiers, 13 ‘terrorists’ killed during terror attack in Mali

Three Soldiers, 13 ?terrorists? killed during terror attack in Mali

The defense ministry today said that three Malian soldiers and 13 “terrorists” were killed in fighting at an army camp in central Mali.

The troops “repelled a terrorist attack in the early morning,” in the central town of Boni,” the ministry said. The army forces “killed 13 terrorists and recovered arms and munitions,” and three soldiers were killed while the attack was repelled, the statement said.

Residents in Boni told AFP that helicopters were later circling the area but that calm had returned by afternoon. Islamic extremists linked to Al-Qaeda took control of the desert north of Mali in early 2012, but were largely driven out in a French-led military operation launched in January 2013.

In June 2015, Mali’s government signed a peace agreement with coalitions of armed groups. But the jihadists remain active, and large tracts of the country remain lawless.  Since 2015 jihadist attacks have been concentrated on central and southern Mali and have spread into neighbouring Burkina Faso and Niger.

This, he said, would forever ensure that Chief MKO Abiola and other martyrs of democracy who laid down their lives in the struggle to entrench good governance did not do so vain.

“We want to commend and applaud Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari for deeming it fit finally against all odds from all other past presidents that 25 years after, we are able to now celebrate our own Democracy Day and also declare that the real winner of 1993 June 12 Presidential election was actually our own MKO Abiola. No matter how long you try to hide history, history will always reveal itself with a true platform. So, we know that is one very important singular step as we go forward to build an enduring democracy,” he said.

The governor added that June 12 is not just a day to remember in Lagos State, it is a rallying point for those of in service to continuously strive to entrench true democracy and good governance which are the ideals of Chief MKO Abiola.
