Nigerians Blast Victor Moses For Not Making Chelsea Bench After Dumping Nigeria

Victor Moses will not make his second Premier League appearance of the new season in Chelsea’s game week three clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park this afternoon.

One of the big names omitted from The Blues squad is Moses, who quit international football eleven days ago in order to focus on his family and club.

The Blues number fifteen is behind Pedro, Eden Hazard and Willian in Maurizio Sarri’s pecking order of wingers and the trio have been included in the 18, with the Spaniard and Belgian starting, while the Brazilian is on the bench.

Chelsea’s Nigerian fans took to Twitter to question the decision of Moses to quit the Super Eagles when there’s uncertainty over his future with Chelsea following the arrival of Sarri, who prefers to play in a 4-3-3 formation.

Chelsea Responds To Rumours Claiming That The Club Is Up For Sale

Chelsea have reportedly denied rumours that Roman Abramovich has put up for sale.

News broke on Sunday morning that the Blues had been listed on the market, with mega-rich foreign investors being alerted to the situation. Abramovich was thought to be hoping to secure a world-record sale for the football club he has owned since 2003.

Naturally, this news was met with concern from Chelsea fans. Abramovich loves the club and has proven both the affection and respect he has for the supporters throughout his 15-year tenure. A new owner couldn’t guarantee that.

Our fears may have been premature. Simon Johnson has reported that he has been informed by the club that Abramovich has no intention of selling and there is no truth to the speculation.

We may never know the full story. Abramovich is an incredibly private man and will not speak out about any reports in the press. For now, we’ll assume that he remains fully committed to the task at hand at Stamford Bridge.

Nigerian comedian, Gordons, took to Instagram to thank God after being saved from an airplane mishap today alongside Tekno, Flavour and their band boys.

Gordons who disclosed that they were on their way to Accra for an event, said 8 minutes into their flight, the plane’s pilot announced that the airplane had a fault and flew them back to Lagos.

The New York Times reports that former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush have been asked to give eulogies at Senator John McCain’s funeral, but President Donald Trump has been banned from attending the ceremony.

 

John McCain, who died on Saturday at the age of 81, will lie in state in the Capital Rotunda in Washington, D.C., and receive a full dress funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral.

 

His death on Saturday triggered a flood of tributes and even from U.S. President Donald Trump that he greatly opposed. Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Jimmy Carter, have also paid tributes in memory of the senator.

 

Trump, in a tweet said: “My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!”

 

The late Arizona Republican, had organised his funeral, and close associates had told the White House in May that he did not want Trump to be invited.

The policeman suspected to have killed a student, Tunde Nafiu in Iwo, Osun state, has been arrested after destruction had been done to police facilities by angry youths in the state.

 

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris had ordered the arrest and an immediate investigation into the killing. The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Fimihan Adeoye, confirmed the arrest on Saturday during an assessment of the facilities at the police station set ablaze by some youths who protested the killing of the student.

 

He said one of the major duties of the police is to protect the right of the people and the IGP is not in support of human rights violation.

“The IGP does not in any way tolerate violation of human right. The job of police officers is to protect the right of the people. The IGP has directed that the necessary internal control mechanism of the force be activated to deal with the situation. The officer that is suspected to have committed the act has been arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation,” Adeoye said.

He added that anyone found guilty at the end of the investigation will be duly prosecuted. The Iwo area command headquarters was on Friday set ablaze by some youths and students who were protesting the alleged murder of a student.  Nafiu was allegedly shot dead by a police officer attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Thursday while returning from Oluponan town in the state. The police station was set ablaze after the youths and some students stormed the police station, forcing police officers to flee and scamper for safety.  They also burnt tyres at some location in the town leaving residents in fear.

Multiple media reports confirm that Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich has put the club up for sale with a price tag of more than £2billion following his dispute with the Government in recent months over his visa status.

 

The figure demanded for Chelsea would smash the world record fee for the sale of a football club If a buyer summons up the cash it would nearly triple the most expensive takeover in history which is currently the Glazer family’s £790million purchase of Manchester United in 2006.

 

According to The Sunday Times, The Raine Group has been hired to assist with the deal and will seek interest from China, the US and the Middle East. The investment bank also helped Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi owners to flog a 13 per cent stake to Chinese investors for £1.9billion three years ago.

 

Abramovich, 51, is said to have rejected a £2billion bid for his club from Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier this year. The Russian, who has an estimated fortune of £9billion, recently acquired Israeli citizenship amid his visa row in Britain.

 

He also halted plans for a new 60,000-capacity stadium for Chelsea that would have cost an estimated £500million. Abramovich has been in charge of Chelsea since July 2003 when he bought the West London club for £140million from Ken Bates.

 

Under his ownership, the Blues have won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup five times.

President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina was in Ibadan recently where he spoke with PM Parrot and was asked why the Presidency has been quiet on pertinent issues like the NYSC Certificate of the Minister for Finance, Kemi Adeosun, the invasion of the National Assembly, would you agree that the presidency has been quiet, and if you do why the quietness?

 

In his response, Adesina said ‘What does it mean to be quiet? To be quiet means, you didn’t talk. But hasn’t the Presidency talked about those two matters, we must talk. On the certificate saga, Alhaji Lai Muhammed who speaks for government has spoken that the agency in charge, which is the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it is investigating and when it is ready with its findings, it would be unfolded to Nigerians, so you can’t call that quiet. Then the blockade of the National Assembly, immediately, there was a statement condemning it and there was an action that followed the occurrence, so you cannot also describe that as quiet’ 

 

Asked if it was right for the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, to have sacked the DSS boss, Adesina said, ‘It is ignorance, when power is transferred; everything about that power is also vested in the person who got the power transferred. An Acting President has all the powers of a substantive president. And talking about the National Assembly, National Assembly did not confirm the DSS DG. That position is not subject to confirmation by the National Assembly; it is the president that has the prerogative to appoint the DG of SSS and somebody that has been vested with the power of the President can also act in the same way’.

A bridge linking Gombe, Adamawa and Borno States has been completely cut off after a heavy heavy led to flooding in the area.

 

According to a tweet by Federal Road Safety Corps, the bridge which has been cut off is located at Bayo Local Govt area of Borno State. The agency advised motorists to make use of alternative routes.

 

Also, a portion of the Kwaita Bridge along Lokoja–Abuja Expressway has been washed-off after a heavy rain and motorists are advised to be cautious as they approach the bridge.
