The Enugu Zonal Office of EFCC has secured the conviction of a businessman, Nicholas Emenike for advance fee fraud.
Emenike who owns Raso Construction Company Limited, was on March 27, 2017 arraigned at an Enugu State High Court, on a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N4,467,500.

His ordeal began in 2015 when he was reported to the EFCC by a complainant who alleged that Emenike deceived him into supplying rods for the execution of a multi-million naira building contract he claimed to have won.
After supplying the rods, Emenike issued a post-dated cheque, which was returned unpaid.
Investigation by the EFCC, however, revealed that Emenike was never awarded any contract, as there was no document to support his claim. It was further established that he sold the rods and diverted the proceeds to his personal use.

He had pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

The prosecution team led by Ani Ikechukwu Michael opened its case by calling two witnesses and tendering nine exhibits. Delivering judgement on January 4, 2019, Justice C.C. Ani found him guilty on count one bordering on obtaining by false pretence, and discharged him on count two, bordering on issuance of dud cheque, and sentenced him to seven years in prison

Nantes demand payment from Cardiff City over the ?15m transfer of missing striker Emiliano Sala

French club, Nantes have reportedly demanded payment from Cardiff City over the £15m transfer of missing striker Emiliano Sala.

The Argentine striker who was Premier League club Cardiff’s record signing after he was sold by the French club, went missing after the Piper Malibu N264DB that was carrying him with pilot David Ibbotson on board from Nantes, France, to Cardiff crashed into the English Channel on 21 January.

According to BBC Wales, Cardiff withheld the first scheduled payment until they are satisfied with the documentation.

It is now claimed that Nantes are threatening legal action if they do not receive a payment within 10 days.

A source at Cardiff says they will honour the contract, but not until they have clarified “all the facts.”

BBC Wales has learned the transfer fee is due to be paid in installments over three years with his former club Bourdeaux also entitled to a cut of the fee, thought to be 50 percent after Sala was on their books from 2012-2015 before joining Nantes.

Cardiff are said to be “surprised” Nantes have made the demand while attempts are being made to recover a body from the plane wreck that was carrying Sala and pilot Ibbotson.

This comes just days after wreckage from the plane carrying Cardiff City footballer was discovered in the English Channel with a body which is yet recovered.

Jubilation As Saraki’s N5m To Ailing Actors Is Disbursed

Jubilation As Saraki?s N5m To Ailing Actors Is Disbursed

Just as he promised, the national president, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Mr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas has begun to make good his promise of judiciously using the N5m donated by the senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki to the Actors Guild Foundation (AGF) for ailing actors.
Some of the beneficiaries that have been given temporary relief are excited and thankful to the senate president for the gesture. Some of them include veteran actress, Mrs.Patience Oseni; Mr.Tunde Alabi; Mr.Stanley Okoronkwo; Mr. Haruna Mohammed and Mrs. Obiageli Molobe.
Oseni who spoke through her daughter, Dr, Mrs Augusta Akomolafe has this to say: I am very garetful. I commend all the actors for their contributions towards my mother’s health. At the moment she cannot walk but we are hopeful that she would be fine. She had a stroke and as a result, I had to drop out of my priofession to help her.
I thank Emeka Rollas for this kindness, may God continue to bless them.”
Tunde Alabi
“I really appreaciate Emeka Rollas and his group; they are not basing their gesture on tribal sentiments. It is across board and I thank him for that. Chief Chika Okpala (Zebrudaya) came all the way from Enugu to visit me and gave me cash gift. But what the generalty sent did not get to me because of a member’s death in Lagos. I am yet to hear from them. My sickness is not natural. I was attacked spiritually by a fellow artist, an old man at the NCCAC because of a soap opera, ‘Palace,’ which is back on air. In all I thank God.”
Jubilation As Saraki?s N5m To Ailing Actors Is Disbursed
Mr. Haruna Mohammed Umar
“It was tremendous. I have been trying to reach Emeka Rollas but network has not helped matters. They have really tried and I am grateful. I am waiting for the doctor’s response. They say I should return on Tuesday for check up.
Jubilation As Saraki?s N5m To Ailing Actors Is Disbursed
My problem began when somebody mistakenly gave me caustic soda instead of water to drink and as I try to vomit it out, another person gave me water, the reaction became so bad that I had to be operated on. I can hardly drink water and eat but I am optimistic that when I see the doctor on Tuesday, I will get better. I remain grateful to the actors guild.”

Mrs.Obiageli Molobe
“I am very grateful I give God the glory. In 2016, I was struck with stroke. I stayed three months in hospital in Lagos. I was admitted on September 14th and discharged in the first week of December. I had to stay with my son in Agege. On December 29, I travelled to the east. I had to learn how to walk like a baby again. It was not easy.
Jubilation As Saraki?s N5m To Ailing Actors Is Disbursed
In May 2018 I returned to Lagos and on December 2nd, I gave a thanksgiving. Though, now I can walk but it seems I am carryin g a big load but I cannot still cross the road. I thank Emeka for this kind gesture and I pray God to continue to bless him and his team.”
While thanking the senate president for his kindness, Chairman of the foundation, Mr. Segun Arinze said: “ The whole essence of the foundation is caring for one another. It will not only be beneficial to the older generations but also for the present ones. Because of their incapacitation, they are unable to work and since they cannot work, they cannot pay dues that would help them when the need arise. This is a better initiative than going cap in hand begging for assistance whenever they fall ill. This gesture by the senate president will go a long way in helping a lot of them that are incapacitated. I thank the senate president again and I encourage other good spirited Nigerians to follow in His Excellency’s footsteps. It is a great kindness to the Nollywood family and we appreciate it.”
While also appealing to other good spitrited Nigerians, corporate bodies and well wishers to support the foundation, National President of the guild, Mr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas has assured
that the gesture would go round and the actors who have been bringing happiness serenading television screens would be up and about doing what they know how to do best.

‘Don’t take offence at words of El-Rufai, a man of doubtful sanity’ – Reno Omokri ‘apologises’ to the international community

Read the piece by Reno Omokri below.
Today, I woke up in shock to watch a television interview by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State, on the Nigerian Television Authority where he threatened Nigeria’s friends with death if they intervened in Nigeria.
His exact words were “we are waiting for the person that will come and intervene (in Nigeria), they will go back in body bags.” Shocking as his words may be, this is vintage El-Rufai, a man who talks carelessly, especially when he is off his medications.
I first encountered Nasir El-Rufai in 2009 when he was living in exile in the United States and the next year, he appealed to me to help him write a letter to foreign governments, calling on them to INTERVENE in Nigeria (the very thing he is now preaching against today). In case he wished to deny, I have the emails and I am a meticulous record keeper.
This latest instance of hypocrisy is the most recent in a long line of hypocritical actions by a man who has no morals and acts without conscience. Permit me to give a few instances of his previous acts of hypocrisy.
On October 1, 2015, Nasir El-Rufai falsely alleged that former President Jonathan spent a whopping ?64 billion on Independence Day celebrations, during his tenure when in fact only ?333 million was spent.
After he was exposed as a liar, Nasir El-Rufai neither apologised nor showed any remorse. It must be stated that it was the Secretary of the Government of the Federation under the Muhammadu Buhari Government that exposed El-Rufai’s lies.
Nigerians may also recall that on September 10, 2014, this same El-Rufai falsely accused former President Jonathan and former CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor of founding and funding Boko Haram to the tune of N50 billion.
Prior to that, he had repeated the same lies at an event at Portcullis House in Parliament, England, where his lies were the object of scorn.
Interestingly, this same Nasir El-Rufai, who is notorious for spreading falsehood, engineered the arrest and prosecution of one Audu Maikori, who erroneously tweeted about some killings in Kaduna that had not happened and almost immediately apologised after he learnt of his errors.
So widely known is El-Rufai’s hypocrisy, that he is treated with disdain by even the cabal ruling Nigeria on behalf of Muhammadu Buhari.
His former boss, Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, who brought him to the limelight, had this to say about Nasir El-Rufai in his book: My Watch Volume 2 as follows:
“Nasir’s penchant for reputation savaging is almost pathological. Why does he do it? He is brilliant and smart. I grant him that also. Very early in my interaction with him, I appreciated his talent and brilliance. At the same time, I recognised his weaknesses; the worst being his inability to be loyal to anybody or any issue consistently for long, but only to Nasir el-Rufai.
He barefacedly lied which he did to me against his colleagues and so-called friends. I have heard of how he ruthlessly savaged the reputation of his uncle, a man who was like, in the African setting, his foster father. I shuddered when I heard the story of what he did to his half-brother in the Air Force who is senior to him in age.”
Given such an evaluation, the international community is advised to treat the fellow with the contempt he deserves. The world may do well to note that El-Rufai is a man who boasted that he had paid public funds to marauders who killed his own people of Kaduna state, because he shares an ethnic affinity with them.
So let me, as a Nigerian citizen, apologise to all friends of Nigeria, who have been threatened by this reckless fellow. Your friendship with Nigeria is appreciated by Nigerians and this flippant fellow does not speak for us in any capacity at all.
Those views are his private views and they cannot bind Nigeria’s armed forces not mislead them to fight our international friends and partners.
Finally, I urge Nasir El-rufai, who today threatened foreign friends of Nigeria of going back in body bags if they intervene in Nigeria, to rather urge the Buhari administration to stop releasing ‘repentant’ Boko Haram
members and use the body bags he referred to on them instead.

Hotelier’s son and his friend arrested for drugging and raping a lady in Lekki Lagos

Hotelier?s son and his friend arrested for drugging and raping a lady in Lekki Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos state police command have arrested the son of the owner of the Dallankester Hotels, Don-Chime George, and his friend, Rasaq Oke, for allegedly drugging and raping a 23-year-old lady in the Lekki Phase 1 area of the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said that the accused allegedly laced the victim’s drink with a substance that made her weak and thereafter took her to the hotel where she was repeatedly raped.

According to Oti, the elder brother of the victim took up the case and informed the police about the incident. Operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Maroko Division, CSP Isah Abdulmajid, swung into action, arrested the suspects and recovered a video recording of the duo sexually abusing the unconscious victim from their phones.

Oti said, “The gender section of the Lagos State Police Command is investigating a case of rape reported against one Razaq Oluwaseun Oke, 28, and Don-Chima George, 25, of the Dallankester Hotels, Lekki, Phase 1, Lagos State.

“The duo allegedly took a girl, 23, to a club on Saturday, February 2, 2019, unknown to her that they had an ulterior motive. While at the club, they laced the young woman’s drink with a substance that made her weak and almost unconscious. Satisfied that the drug was beginning to affect the victim, they quietly left the club with her to the Dallankester Hotels in Lekki Phase 1, which is owned by the father of Don-Chima George.

“At the hotel, they took turns to rape her. As if that wasn’t enough, they made a video recording of the abuse.

“When the victim woke up from the induced sleep, she confronted the suspects, who denied having carnal knowledge of her. Not satisfied, she put a call through to her elder brother to complain that she had been violated. The brother immediately invited policemen from the Maroko Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Isah Abdulmajid, to the scene.

“Upon searching the suspects, the DPO recovered their phones and went through their video recordings, where he saw a video of the suspects sexually abusing the apparently unconscious victim.”

The Coalition of United Political Parties CUPP says it has uncovered plans by the EFCC to arrest the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen today Wednesday February 6th.

Onnoghen was suspended on Janaury 25th by President Buhari over his non-declaration of all his assets. Justice Onnoghen who assumed office in March 2017, has refused calls to resign from office despite attributing his non-declaration of assets to forgetfullness.

In a statement signed by its National spokesperson, Imo Ugochinyere, CUPP said Onnoghen will be forced to resign after his arrest.

“The secretariat of the CUPP has uncovered the latest plot by the Presidency to arrest the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter  Onnoghen tomorrow (Wednesday) being February 6, 2019 and immediately commence their final descent to infamy by forcing him to resign at gunpoint.

“The latest recruit in this plot against the CJN being the Chairman of the EFCC has been given the mandate to execute this plot and has been told there would be no margin for error as the CJN must resign from office or from life one way or the other,” Ugochinyere claimed.

The CUPP spokesperson said the decision to arrest Onnoghen was taken after he allegedly turned down “all mouth-watering offers” made to him.

The EFCC has however denied plot to arrest the suspended CJN.

Liam Neeson has been greatly criticized after he revealed that he once wanted revenge so bad after his friend was raped by a black man that he spent a week looking for a black man to step on his toes so he could kill him.

A lot of people have called Liam Neeson a racist for opening up about his feelings. But John Barnes has defended Liam.

John Barnes, an English former professional footballer, appeared on Sky News to address the controversy surrounding Neeson’s comments. Barnes said Liam Neeson ‘deserves a medal’ for his honesty.

Liam’s statement which caused the controversy was made during a press junket for his new movie Cold Pursuit. He narrated how he found out that a black man had raped his friend and he was consumed with the need to take revenge.

He told The Independent:

I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [Neeson gestures air quotes with his fingers] “black bastard” would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could… kill him.

Even though Liam said he later realized revenge was not the answer and it would do no good, he was called a racist and was greatly attacked.  People even called for him to have his OBE stripped.

However, John Barnes has praised Liam for realising what was wrong about his thoughts.

Barnes, 55, told Sky News:

I believe that Liam Neeson deserves a medal and I’ll tell you why. I’ve listened to the transcript, and he was talking about how revenge doesn’t do anyone any good. If you listen to everything he’s talking about, he’s saying that in the moment, and you can’t blame him for thinking what he feels, this is what society has wrongly shown him that black people do.

He said for a week he was going around looking to kill a black person, or a black b******, and he did do it in quotation marks. It’s been spun – if you want to think about what he’s actually saying, he’s saying he was ashamed and horrified by the way he felt.

That is what he went on to say, you cannot blame him for thinking that. For this one black person who raped this woman, he went on to look at it that all black men were rapists. As much as people are now jumping on this bandwagon, he has come out and told the truth.

Now, the big problem we have is when people are afraid to admit the way they actually feel. I have more respect for him now than had he come out and said “I view all black people as equal, I just view everybody as equal.”

What he said was, for a week, because of the stress he was under when his friend was raped by a black person, and because of the narrative around black people, and this is many years ago, “surrounding the perception we have of them, I then wanted to kill every black person”.

This is what society has shown him, that black people do, Muslims do, this is what society has wrongly shown him, this is what the media have wrongly portrayed to him. He said he was horrified and ashamed for thinking that, but that is not the story we are telling.

He’s not ashamed and horrified at wanting to commit the act of revenge, he’s ashamed and horrified because that is what he thought about all black people. We now want him to be pilloried, we want him to never work again, people are now afraid to tell the truth and how they feel.

I always say, we are all unconscious racists, and he said, unconsciously for a week and a half, that is how he felt. The big problem we have is that this witch hunt is going to stop the process of people, as in Rwanda, talking about truth and reconciliation, holding our hands up and saying “I am unconsciously racist”.

Barnes then went on to ask why people didn’t think the same of Winston Churchill, a white supremacist.

When asked if Liam Neeson’s OBE should be stripped as people suggest, the football legend replied:

So let’s take down that statue of Winston Churchill – who is a white supremacist and a mass murderer.
