The Domestic & Sexual Violence Response Team have reacted to the allegations that the young men who drugged, raped, and filmed a 23-year-old woman have been freed by the Lagos state police (read here).

Twitter users alleged that suspected rapists, Razaq Oluwaseun Oke, 28, and Don-Chima George, 25 (left), have been freed by the Lagos State Police after Don-Chima’s dad, who owns Dallankester Hotels in Lekki Phase, where the rape took place, intervened.

Twitter users also alleged that Don-Chima’s father got the police to arrest the victim’s brother, sister and friend.

But the DSVRT has said that the allegations are false. They say the suspects are still in custody and will be prosecuted.

In a statement released via Twitter, DSVRT wrote:

Our attention has been drawn to the rumour that the perpetrators of rape of a 23 yr old lady have been released. This is to inform the general public that the suspects are still in custody. The DPP will ensure diligent prosecution of the case. @kingNelo2@grooveeshakes @TheNamii

Aleksander Ceferin has been re-elected unopposed as UEFA president for a four-year term at the governing body’s annual congress in Rome.

Ceferin, who began his term as president in 2016 as permanent successor to Michel Platini, was voted in by acclamation from the delegates of the 55 member associations of UEFA. The Slovenian vowed to work alongside European Club Association leader Andrea Agnelli in order to protect the Champions League from a breakaway ‘Super League’ of elite clubs.

“It’s not a promise, it’s a fact. Major clubs, if you had carried out your alleged plan, your clubs would have lost their status as ‘great clubs’ in the hearts of the people. The only thing ‘great’ about you would have been your past, and nothing else.

By respecting the football pyramid, the promotion and relegation system that lies at the heart of our sporting culture, results on the pitch, which sometimes differ from those in the account books, you remain great clubs in the world’s eyes” said Ceferin.

Ceferin also urged FIFA to listen to UEFA’s reasons for opposing plans for two new competitions – a global Nations League and 24-team Club World Cup.

The police have been accused of freeing the two young men who drugged and raped a 23-year-old woman then filmed it with their phones.

The suspects, Razaq Oluwaseun Oke, 28 (right), and Don-Chima George, 25 (left), whose father owns Dallankester Hotels in Lekki Phase one, took the woman, 23, to a club on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019.

Unknown to the young woman, her male companions had an ulterior motive. While at the club, they mixed the young woman’s drink with a substance that made her weak and almost unconscious. Satisfied that the drug was beginning to affect the victim, they quietly left the club with her to Dallankester Hotels in Lekki Phase one, owned by the father of one of the suspects named Don-Chima George.

At the hotel, they allegedly took turns to rape her and they filmed the abuse on their mobile phones (read here).

The suspected rapists were arrested after the victim called her brother and he came with police officers. The suspects denied raping the girl but their mobile devices were searched and a video of the men abusing their unconscious victim was seen on their phone.

They were immediately arrested. But according to social media users, the young men have now been released from jail

Twitter user @KingNelo2 made the allegation writing:

I honestly cannot believe the audacity of Nigeria and money. So 1) don chima george and ricco were released. Scot free FOR RAPE 2) don chima’s father then got police to arrest the victims brother, sister and friend. As in right now HER BROTHER is in jail. I am FURIOUS

Newlyweds Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are the cover stars for Vogue’s March 2019 issue.

The couple got married last September at a lower Manhattan courthouse after a twelve-week romance and a nearly ten-year friendship.

They revealed to Vogue that they saved themselves for marriage. The couple said abstaining from sex till they were married was the perfect decision they ever made.

Justin Bieber said that his religious beliefs were one of the reasons why he chose not to have sex with Hailey until they had had their wedding. The singer added that he had an issue with sex and when he started dating Hailey in June 2018 he had been celibate already for more than a year.

Justin said:

God doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff. He’s like, I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain. I think sex can cause a lot of pain.

Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that.

I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul. And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result.

There are perks. You get rewarded for goodbehaviour.

Justin and Hailey first met in 2009 but they didn’t officially start dating until 2016. Their romance was short-lived, though, and Hailey admitted they ‘didn’t speak for quite some time’ following their first break-up, which is when Justin rekindled his romance with Selena Gomez.

However, the pair got back in touch in June 2018 after reconnecting as friends at a Hillsong church service in Manhattan and now they are husband and wife.

Federal high court orders the re-opening of all frozen COSON accounts

E0D4B89A-EFBE-40F8-BCAE-FCF36C153268

Justice Mohammed Hassan of the Federal High Court Lagos, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 ordered the re-opening of all bank accounts of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) at United Bank for Africa (UBA), Diamond Bank PLC and First Bank of Nigeria, frozen as a result of an interim order issued by him on November 30, 2018. The judge also struck out Suit No. FHC/L/CS/1819/2018 brought by Premier Music Publishing Ltd, Pretty Okafor and one other saying that his court lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit as there was a subsisting order of the Federal High Court on the matter.

On December 17 when the application to have the order of Justice Hassan vacated, was moved by COSON lawyer, Mr. Uche Val Obi SAN, the senior advocate drew the attention of the court to the fact that Pretty Okafor, one of the plaintiffs who deposed to the affidavit upon which the ex-parte order was obtained, did not disclose to the court that while he was a member of a defunct musical group called “Junior & Pretty”, he had never at any time applied to be a member of COSON, never been granted membership of COSON, does not possess a membership number, membership certificate or membership card of COSON, has not assigned any copyright to COSON and has no voting rights in any meeting of COSON and no interest in the funds of COSON.

The senior advocate also drew the attention of the court to the fact that Mr. Okafor did not disclose the existence of Suit No ID/ADR/903/18 filed on the 22nd of May, 2018 against him by the Chairman of the Board of COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji in which Chief Okoroji is claiming the sum of six hundred million naira for malicious lies and serial defamation published by Mr. Okafor, a suit to which Mr. Pretty Okafor had not filed any defence.

Obi went ahead to remind the court that COSON has well over 4,000 members across the country made up of Nigeria’s foremost songwriters and performers who have interest in the funds of the society and who had not authorized the Plaintiffs whom he described as forming less than 0.075% of the COSON membership to bring the court action and that none of the over 150 reciprocal representation partners of COSON across the world was in support of the suit and that the plaintiffs lacked locus to bring the action.

The court was also told that the Extra-Ordinary General Meeting of COSON had been fixed and widely publicized to hold on December 18, 2018 and that the injunction was a devious plan by the plaintiffs to starve COSON of funds, abort the extra-ordinary general meeting and deny the thousands of innocent COSON members their earned royalties planned to be made available to them at the EGM.

In the affidavit in support of the application, it was deposed to that Mr. Toju Ejueyitchie, the Managing Director of Premier Music, the 1st Plaintiff in the case, was a member of the Management Board of COSON and failed in his attempt to be re-elected to the Board and has since then been antagonistic to COSON and has repeatedly written petitions upon petitions against COSON and despite the fact   that an overwhelming majority of the members of COSON resent their plans and strategies, the plaintiffs have become obsessed with their desire to control COSON.

The attention of the court was drawn to the fact that COSON was practically unknown and given little chance of survival about eight years ago but as a result of focused and dedicated leadership, the organization has grown in leaps and bounds, attracting the bitterness and acquisitiveness of some like the plaintiffs who have relentlessly attacked and distorted the records of the organization with every instrument they can muster.

The court was also told that as proof of the malice behind the action of the plaintiffs, immediately after obtaining the injunction, they rushed to the banks and ensured the service of the order on all the banks but made sure that COSON was not served. COSON only discovered that all its bank accounts had suddenly and mysteriously been shut down and every road block set up to prevent it from processing and filing a proper application to discharge the order.

Several members of the COSON Board as well as the COSON General Counsel were in court when the decision was read. Reacting to the court decision, COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji who was in court when Justice Hassan read his detailed ruling said that he was happy with the judge’s understanding of the issues. He said that he was touched by the calmness with which the members of COSON had endured the trauma they had been forced to go through and said that every step would be taken to ensure that all outstanding royalties are sent to their rightful owners without delay.

The Plaintiffs were represented in the case by Dr. Adewale Olawoyin SAN.

Former Premier League defender Repka sentenced to 15 months in jail after being convicted of fraud

1D67B6F3-FC0D-46F2-9049-B51DE728E52D

Former West Ham star and Czech retired footballer, Tomas Repka has been convicted of fraud and sentenced to 15 months in jail.

The Prague 6 district court ruled that the 45-year-old Repka sold a luxury car had been renting at the time to a woman. It was also revealed that Repka signed a deal, promising to return the money if the ownership was not transferred to the woman, but he didn’t do that.

At Thursday’s ruling, he was convicted of fraud and sentenced to 15 months in jail. But his lawyer and the state prosecutor immediately appealed.

This comes months after he was found guilty of revenge porn attacks on his ex-wife.

Back in August, he was found guilty of advertising the sexual services of his ex-wife, Vladka Erbova, on the internet without her knowledge. The retired footballer also included the victim’s phone number on ads.

‘Its becoming normal for dads to impregnate their daughters in Edo State’ – Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ohenhen

7DE77266-CF9B-466F-B7C0-37C6878101DD

Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Magdalene Ohenhen has revealed that it is becoming a normal thing in the state for fathers to impregnate their daughters.

She described the situation as very sad, saying the earlier the state stopped it, the better. She made the disclosure, yesterday, during a protest by the Brave Heart Initiative for Youth and Women (BHI) led by Lady Grace Osakue.

The group was seeking  justice for 17-year-old Gift Alonge who was said to have been impregnated by her father. The victim was alleged to have been first impregnated in 2017 by her biological father, Jacob Alonge, and later in 2018.

“It’s a very sad situation. Edo State is becoming something else, and the earlier we stop it, the better for us. It is becoming a normal thing in Edo State for men to impregnate their own daughters,” the commissioner said.

Ohenhen cited another case of a man who slept with her daughter for over 10 years before the case was reported to the police. She said: “It is time we stopped all these. Edo State forbids it, it is a taboo. We are begging Edo men to stop sleeping with their daughters, it is an abomination.”

CUPP alleges plan to frame up Atiku, Saraki, Melaye

9AB2BF2E-CB89-4295-9D92-AA5EEAFA201C

The Coalition of United Political Parties has alleged that there is a grand plot by the Federal Government to implicate the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki; Senator Dino Melaye and other opposition leaders as the 2019 election approaches.

The coalition’s spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere, in a statement released to newsmen, said the opposition politicians will be accused of gunrunning. The statement in part reads

“Elements of the ruling party have commenced the branding of some vehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa and other parts of the country where they have also selected.

“The vehicles will eventually be searched by the police and the arms recovered. Their plot will include mobilising thugs and causing violence on the day of such recovery so as to tag the opposition as violent. The APC leaders are aware Nigerians now know them for their violence which has trailed their campaigns nationwide.

“Their internal crisis and ‘grab-power-by-all-means’ attitude have catalysed their rejection by Nigerians and they desire to break all the laws to cast the opposition in bad light.

“On poll day, part of their plot include also to use more of these branded vehicles loaded with thugs to disrupt voting and collation in
some centres and blame the opposition for violence and disruption of the process which will lead to mass arrest of opposition leaders to give the ruling party advantage to rig and deny the people the opportunity to give their preferred candidates their mandate.

The security agencies are hereby put on notice that Nigerians will not accept any breach of security being orchestrated by elements of the ruling party disguised in whichever form they choose.

Nigerians are put on notice to be watchful and vigilant to see through the evil plans of the ravenous group of rulers we have in our country today. They should not be deterred. Their songs of war and plot to rig the elections will be resisted. APC is already in morbid fear of losing elections and all their shenanigans are like the last futile kicks of a dying horse.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother defends him against rape claims, says alleged victim ‘didn’t go to his hotel room to play cards’

7C37CAB2-A9B2-4067-AEC2-1A727B79528E

The mother of superstar footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken out to defend him against rape allegations after an American teacher Kathryn Mayorga accused him of raping her in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

Dolores Aveiro said she had ‘confidence’ in the 34-year-old Portugal forward and insisted: ‘I know the son I have.’

The mother-of-four also lashed out at Ronaldo’s accuser, saying she ‘didn’t go to his hotel room to play cards’.

At a PR launch in Lisbon she said: ‘I have confidence in my son when it comes to what happened.

‘When she went there, it wasn’t to play cards. It was to do something. I know the son I have.’

The Portuguese footballer has since denied the claims despite multiple reports that he paid her £290,000 settlement for her silence after they met.

Dr Victoria Bateman, an Economics Fellow from the University of Cambridge, went completely naked to protest Brexit.

In a performance at the Cambridge Junction theatre last week, on the eve of the Parliamentary vote on Britain’s exit from the European Union, Dr. Victoria Bateman carried out a naked protest as she argued that “Brexit leaves Britain naked”.

During her naked protest, she argued that

“Britain has sold itself the emperor’s new clothes. She explores how Brexit leaves the British economy exposed, how it has uncovered and fuelled dangerous anti-immigration sentiments, and how it has laid bare the failures of past policy – failures that mean that too many people believe they have nothing to lose from Brexit simply because they have nothing at all.”

Victoria concluded with a warning: that Britain is changing direction, away from travelling the road that leads to a free and open society to instead travel a path that is nationalistic and unwelcoming.

She added that “In the dark times ahead, we must all keep on making the case for freedom – a freedom that goes beyond the individual nation state and that allows each and every one of us to make the most of our lives no matter where we are born.”

Reacting to the Naked protest, Piers Morgan, who is very vocal about his opinions, shared the video and wrote:

This may just have turned me into a Brexiteer. ?
