Photo: Real Estate developer killed, buried in shallow grave in Ogun

The Ogun state police command is currently investigating the alleged murder of a real estate developer, Bababunmi Akinyemi, in the Mowe area of the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State of February 1st.

According to the police, Akinyemi was allegedly lured to his site at Peace Estate, opposite the Redemption Camp off the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where he was killed and his body dumped in the bush by his killers.

Wife of the deceased, Omotoke Akinyemi, told Punch that her husband was called upon by a resident of the estate who said he was interested in a property Akinyemi was selling.

“We left home together on Friday, February 1, 2019, for his office at Omole area of Lagos State, but he left me there saying that he wanted to get to Ikeja; and from Ikeja, he went home. He called me that he wanted to go to Ikoyi for a meeting, but that our neighbour at Mowe called him that he got an interested buyer for our property at Mowe and that he wanted to go there.

“I asked him if he was going to drive; he said he won’t because of the traffic and that was the last conversation we had. I was expecting him to come back, but when we didn’t see him that day, we went to the site in Mowe very early on Saturday morning. We asked the people around but they said they did not see him. We didn’t meet the neighbour who called him, but we met his wife, who told us that her husband had travelled. We asked one of the ‘Omo oniles’, who was always at the gate of the estate, and he said he didn’t see my husband.

“We thought it was a case of a missing person and we reported at the Warewa Police Station, and on Tuesday, his corpse was found in the last room of the building covered with bush.” she said

Confirming the incident, the Ogun state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the two suspects have been arrested and transferred to the state Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

“The family reported a case of a missing person at the Warewa Police Station; the corpse was later discovered on his site where it was dumped. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case and we are still investigating it. The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the state Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, and the homicide section has taken over the case. An object was used to hit him on the head, but we have not established what the object is.” he said

“No matter what, you should never apologize to your child” Twitter user says and explains why

A Twitter user has started a debate on the social networking platform after she advised parents never to apologize to their children no matter what and gave reasons.

@YarKafanchan tweeted:

Once I spanked my kiddo so hard when he was 7 years old I think. I had to sit him down and apologize and promise never to do it again. There is no excuse for treating a child like that and I’m still sorry about it. I’m also working on not shouting. What is shouting for?

And @mbzorbi replied:

No matter what….you should never apologize to your child… When you do, you gradually lose your accreditation for being a parent.. Let your actions speak so..  Try also to control your anger??? Correct them with love…

@mbzorbi added:

You human but you’re the god they see and know… gods do not apologize. If you apologize today, apologize tomorrow…then they won’t take you for your words! You might turn trash to them Actions speak louder. Well, we all have what we believe.

Below are the tweets and the debateabout parenting that followed.

Those saying Buhari, Osinbajo haven’t done anything live in another world- VP’s mum says

Mother of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Mrs Olubisi Osinbajo, says anyone who doesn’t believe the Buhari-led administration has done anything since they assumed office in 2015, is living in another world.

The 85 -year-old widow said this today when her son paid her a visit in her home during his house-to-house campaign in Somolu area of Lagos State.

“They have tried. If anybody says they have not done anything, then you can say that man or woman is not in this world because they have tried. What Buhari and Osinbajo did in three years, people couldn’t do it for 16 years. We are praising God and we shall praise God after the elections” she said

The elated mother thanked God for sparing her son’s life in the Kogi helicopter crash last weekend.

“I am overwhelmed with this visit and I must thank God for everything that He is doing in my life. Do you know that on Thursday (January 31), I was busy thanking God and praising God. I didn’t know what was going to happen on Saturday (day Osinbajo’s helicopter crashed in Kogi). I have been praising God and I told my people I wanted to praise God on that Thursday until evening of that day, not knowing that something would happen on Saturday. That gift was given to me by Jesus Christ that I should be praising Him and that I will never be sorrowful. That was what God told me,” Mrs. Osinbajo said.

They continued exchanging words until it turned physical and they began throwing punches, and dragging each other’s hair.

Students rushed to separate them but they were unsuccessful. They were both soon on the ground and were dragging at each other’s clothes.

The student said to the teacher at one point:

Bitch I’ll kill you. Do you know that? I’ll fu***** kill you.

The girl then bit the teacher’s hand and spat in her face.

President Buhari mourn victims of overcrowding at APC rally in Jalingo

President Buhari has expressed  sadness over of loss of lives at the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Rally in Jalingo, Taraba State on Thursday.

Reacting to reports of the tragic death of some APC supporters due to the overwhelming crowd at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, the President said:

“I always feel very sad and distressed when ordinary Nigerians who love me and our party because of what we stand for and have done, make personal sacrifices by taking the pains to show their support, end their lives tragically.”

While appreciating the massive support he is receiving all over the country, President Buhari calls for restraint on the part of his supporters to avoid such tragic incidences, and improved crowd management at rally grounds.

“I want them to stay alive and witness the dividends of purposeful governance that the APC administration will unfold when they renew our mandate,” he said. Donald Duke’s party, SDP, adopts President Buhari as consensus candidate

In a shocking turn of events, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has just adopted President Buhari as its consensus candidate for the February 16 presidential election.

The party made the decision on Thursday during its national executive council meeting in Abuja. SDP NEC, however, explained that the adoption does not herald a merger with the APC.

Prior to the development, Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River, was the flagbearer of the SDP. Duke was declared the presidential candidate of the party in January following a ruling by the court of appeal in Abuja which set aside the judgment of an Abuja high court declaring Jerry Gana, former information minister, as the party’s presidential flagbearer.

Donlad Duke left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018 to pursue his presidential ambitions on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Moshood “MKO” Abiola won the 1993 presidential election on the platform of the SDP. He was recently honoured with the first-ever posthumous GCFR in Nigeria history in 2018.

This was done by President Muhammadu Buhari.  The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) had also in January, endorsed Buhari’s re-election. The party made the move after Oby Ezekwesili, its presidential candidate, withdrew from the race.
