Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi and his Middlesbrough teammates reportedly escaped a flight mishap after a faulty Middlesbrough plane was grounded before take off.

 

Mikel Obi who joined Championship side Middlesbrough on a short term deal was reportedly at risk of a plane crash just after their game against Newport County in the FA Cup replay played on Tuesday, February 5.

 

According to a report by Football live, Mikel and his Middlesbrough teammates were about the leave the Rodney Parade Arena after a 2-0 loss to their opponents but their flight had to be postponed. In the report, the Middlesbrough flight was postponed as the the plane suffered from engine failure. and was grounded.

 

If the fault had not been detected, Mikel and his teammates could have suffered a mishap while on air which could have cost the lives of players and officials of Middlesbrough.

 

The news comes at a time when the football world is still in shock over the passing away for Argentina and Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala who was confirmed dead days after his flight crashed.

 

In the report after the plane was not cleared to take off at the Cardiff Airport runway, Mikel and his Middlesbrough teammates had to return home by bus.

‘As NLC president, I mobilised Lagos ‘area boys’ for protests’ – Adams Oshiomhole

At the presidential rally in Lagos today, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole said when he was President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), he didn’t find it difficult to mobilise ‘area boys’ in Lagos for protests.

 

He made this remarks during the APC presidential rally held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday. According to Oshiomhole, the 16 years the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spent in power brought poverty.  He also compared PDP to “barren women” tagged as “witches”, who Nigerians should “divorce”

In his words: “I don’t think there is anything new to be said in terms of giving you report of the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari over the past three and a half years. I think that has been eloquently done by Comrade Fashola, both in Yoruba, in English and probably some Latin in-between. And of course, Governor Emeritus, our National Leader, Comrade Asiwaju ‘Jagaban’ Tinubu, has also elaborated where Lagos was.

“The first quarrel I had with Asiwaju, and later, I extended it to Fashola, was that when I was President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, I didn’t have difficulties mobilising area boys under the bridge of Ojuelegba. Once we get them out, we block the bourgeoisie of Eko, Victoria Island, and other parts of the state.

“Those who know what Lagos was before Bola became the Governor, and later Fashola, now Ambode, and by the grace of God, Sanwo-Olu is coming to continue from where they stopped, will see the beauty when a state and a people are united and [bound] together by sheer commitment to embark on sustainable growth and development.”

Condemning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he continued: “My comrades, if you marry a woman for 16 years, no pikin, and even your brothers and sisters are dying and they say she’s a witch, and you divorce her; you marry another one, and in three and a half years, ‘he’ delivers on rail, power, giving Trader Moni, giving pensioners money, paying Biafran pensioners that have been forgotten, doing N-Power, creating jobs, infrastructure, why will any man or woman suggest the old [party] that for 16 years delivered poverty, corruption, mismanagement; why will you bring them back?”

Federal High Court sitting in Lagos and presided by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun will on Monday, 11th February, 2019, deliver judgement in a motion for final forfieture of $153m (One Hundred and Fifty Three Million Dollars) linked to former first lady Dame Patience Jonathan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The $153m (One Hundred and Fifty Three Million Dollars) is just one of the several forfeiture orders against the former first lady. The EFCC, through its Prosecution Lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, had in June 2017, approached the court and sought for an exparte order for interim forfeiture under Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud Act, Section 34 of EFCC Act and other related offences Act.

The Judge granted the application and directed the EFCC to advertise the order on two National Dailies so that any interested parties can proof the legitimacy of the funds. It was consequent on the publication that counsels to the former first lady, Ifedayo Adedipe, SAN, and Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, filed and argued that there was no complainant of loss of money to EFCC and that Patience Jonathan is not a public office holder during the four year tenure of her husband, they therefore urged the court to set aside the interim order of forfieture earlier made.

However Oyedepo in his response, urged the court to order final forfieture of $1153m to the federal government of Nigeria as he described the money as a proceed of an unlawful activities lundered under some fictitious companies. He further agued that the person claiming ownership of these illicit funds must show to the court her interest, her name was not among the director of the companies used to launder these funds neither her name appeared in the mandate card of the company’s accounts.

He then prayed the court to order the final forfieture of the funds The Judge, after listening to arguments from bith sides had adjourned the case to Monday, February 11, 2019 for judgement.

Five teenagers arrested and charged for killing country musician Kyle Yorlet (Photos)

Authorities in Nashville have arrested five teenagers who are between the ages of 12 to 16 in connection to the shooting death of country musician Kyle Yorlet of pop-rock band Carverton  

According to a press release from the Nashville Metro Police Department, on Friday morning detectives charged the underage suspects with criminal homicide for Thursday’s killing of 24-year-old Kyle Yorlets.

 

 

Three of the suspects were identified by investigators as Roniyah McKnight, 14; Diamond Lewis, 15, and Decorrius Wright, 16. While names of the two youngest suspects, including a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, were not released because of their age.

 

 

Police said the children were attempting to steal the 24-year-old singer’s car and shot him after he refused to turn over his keys.

According to the police, the five kids were in a stolen Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck in the alley that runs behind Yorlets’ house in the 32000 block of Torbertt Street when they spotted him outside on Thursday afternoon.

 

 

When they accosted the singer,  they took his wallet and demanded the keys to his car, which he refused to hand over, they opened fire on him.

Yorlets who was left wounded managed to make it inside his home, where he was found by one of his roommates at 3pm. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

 

 

Officers later recovered the stolen Chevy Colorado, which they abandoned in the 1600 block of Timberland Drive.

According to Mail Online, the district attorney will decide if the juveniles will be charged as adults.

Ex-Skye bank chairman, Tunde Ayeni, is not dead- EFCC says

EFCC has denied media reports that former Skye Bank chairman, Tunde Ayeni, who was a guest in their headquarters, has died. Read the statement below

The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been drawn to a report in Thisday newspaper of Saturday, February 9 with the headline: “EFCC Has Poisoned Tunde Ayeni in Custody, Allege Opposition Parties.”

The report according to the author, followed a press release issued on Friday, February 8, in Abuja by the spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) CUPP, Mr Ikenga Ugochinyere, wherein he claimed that “a credible source” revealed to him that Ayeni was currently undergoing treatment “in an undisclosed medical facility after he was poisoned in the detention cell of the EFCC.” Other journalists have called to ask if the story is true that he was dead.

Given that the intention of this false alarm is to incite public opinion against the Commission, we found it compelling to state in no unclear terms that Mr Ayeni upon arrest and conveyance to the Commission was neither offered food nor drink by our operatives.

There was also nothing consumable: food, drink or water that was brought to him within the brief period he was with his interrogators. When he complained of illness and opted to see a doctor, which he was promptly obliged.

We also wish to state that so far, there has not been any report of any dire health condition on Mr Ayeni and it’s likely there would not be. The public may wish to know that the Commission in the course of its duties has become conversant with all manners of theatrics from some suspects who would elect not to cooperate.

It is also our desire to inform the CUPP that as a Commission, we follow due process, and that we are a law-abiding entity and as such, will not keep Ayeni longer than required by law. We also give our word that he will have his day in court as and when due.

It is important at this point that we restate that the Commission under the leadership of its Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu is well insulated from going-ons in the political space and that our mandate is well cut out for us by constitution.

We therefore wish to clarify that Ayeni as former Chairman of the failed Skye Bank has allegations of corruption to thrash out with us. It was strictly for this purpose that he became our guest.

Any other consideration outside this is unknown to us. Again, much as we find the claim of being handed a list of 45 opposition figures “to invite, arrest, detain and restrain before the opening of polls on February 16,” as contained in the CUPP release utterly nonsensical, we note that it is a grave disservice to the country at this material time for anyone to seek to aggravate the heat in political space with a reckless rumour such as this from the CUPP.

We therefore, urge the public not to be swayed by the rumour but treat it with the disregard it thoroughly deserves.

Governor Yahaya Bello’s wife involved in accident in same local government where Osinbajo’s chopper crashed in Kogi

Barely a week after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was involved in a helicopter crash in Kabba, Kogi state, the first wife of the state governor, Amina Bello, was involved in a car accident in the same area on Saturday February 9th.

A statement from the governor’s Chief Press secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, says the accident happened around Oshokoshoko area of Kabba while the governor’s wife and some aides were on their way to Isanlu for an All Progressives Congress (APC) woman rally. The statement added that all occupants of the car were unhurt.

Boy, 6, beheaded in Saudi Arabia in front of his screaming mum for belonging to the wrong religion

A six-year-old boy was beheaded in front of his screaming mum in Saudi Arabia for belonging to the wrong branch of Islam.

The child and his mother visited a shrine to the Prophet Muhammad in Medina. While there, they were allegedly approached and were asked if they were Shia Muslims. The mum said they are indeed Shia Muslims and several minutes later a car pulled up beside them and the child was snatched away from her.

The boy was then repeatedly stabbed in the neck with a piece of broken glass until he was beheaded, it is claimed. His mum cried out helplessly as he was killed in front of her.

British rapper Cadet killed in horror taxi crash while on his way to perform at a gig

British rapper, Cadet has been killed in a horror taxi accident while on his way to perform at a gig.

Cadet whose real name was Blaine Cameron Johnson was heading to Keele University for the gig in Staffordshire when a Toyota Prius that was carrying him and a red Vauxhall Combo van crashed on Main Road, Betley at 1.30am on Saturday.

According to Mail Online, Johnson died at the scene, while the two drivers, men aged 36 and 22, were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries. Three other passengers in the Toyota were treated for minor injuries at Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

Before the crash, Cadet’s photographer shared a photo of them heading to the university for the gig.

Surveillance video shows Bow Wow raging at his girlfriend and being violent with her before fight that got them both arrested

Bow Wow ended up with bite and scratch marks following a brawl with his girlfriend, making social media users accuse Kiyomi Leslie Holden of being violent. But a surveillance footage taken before the brawl shows Bow Wow was the one being violent and forceful with her before a fight broke out.

The video, seen by TMZ, was taken from their apartment complex. It shows Bow Wow and Kiyomi Leslie Holden ?taking an elevator up to their unit after a night of partying. Bow Wow looks enraged in the video and can be seen forcefully snatching something from his girlfriend, cornering her and getting all up in her personal space. He also appears to berate her in the video

According to TMZ, the video shows rising tension between Bow Wow and Kiyomi Leslie leading up to their brawl over the weekend in Atlanta.

Kiyomi Leslie told the police that Bow Wow flew into a jealous rage because she was talking to another man at a party and Bow Wow backed her story up.

This led to a fight and Kiyomi called 911 to report the incident. She claimed Bow Wow hit her several times, took her phone and refused to let her out of a bedroom.

Both Bow Wow and Kiyomi were arrested for battery following the incident.

Young man drown in a beach in Port Harcourt while his friend filmed

A young man has died by drowning in Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

As the young man drowned, his friend filmed, unaware that he was drowning and calling for help.

According to his cousin who shared the story online, the man had been at the shallow end of the beach, but due to the dredging going on, the ground under him opened. Sadly, the friend saw his hand flailing but thought he was calling her to join him.

She was almost arrested but was saved by the video she took which made it clear she wasn’t aware that he was drowning.

Professor goes completely naked again during radio interview to protest Brexit (video)

The professor who went naked days ago to protest Brexit has gone naked again during a Brexit radio interview.

Dr Victoria Bateman, an Economics Fellow from the University of Cambridge, appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme to talk about the advantages of the EU.

During her discussion with presenter John Humphrys, she took off her coat to reveal she was completely naked underneath.

She had the words ‘Brexit leaves Britain naked’ scrawled across her chest.

During her interview, she invited leave supporters to strip off and discuss Britain’s withdrawal from the EU.

She said:

I invite Jacob Rees-Mogg to do a naked debate with me and we will get to the roots of this issue.

 

She added:

Britain faces many, many problems right now from housing to the NHS, and the European Union is not the cause of those problems.

 

Dr Bateman said she decided to talk about Brexit with no clothes on to demonstrate that leaving the EU is the same as ‘the emperor’s new clothes’.

She told the programme:

 

I have myself written thousands of words looking at why Brexit is bad for Britain, but I thought it would be useful to reduce all of those words down, condense all of those words down to one powerful message.

Brexit is the emperor’s new clothes – that Britain has sold itself a project that cannot possibly deliver on what it promised.

 

The professor has previously generated debate online due to her numerous naked protests, both on Brexit and gender inequalities within economics.

Kanye West signature forged in $900k Philipp Plein Scam (Photo)

Earlier this week, there were rumors that Kanye West was billed to perform at Philipp Plein’s New York Fashion Week, before it was shut down by his wife Kim Kardashian on Twitter last night.

 

Now TMZ is reporting that Kanye himself was never contracted for the performance at all; instead, according to their sources, a G.O.O.D. Music associate (and former friend of Kanye’s) misrepresented himself to Plein as Kanye’s rep.

 

He allegedly negotiated a nearly million dollar contract for Kanye’s performance, including a $900,000 advance, which, according to TMZ, Plein wired to an account associated with the scammer.

 

He also allegedly forged Kanye’s signature in order to make this hefty transaction happen.

The gossip site also obtained a picture of the contract with Kanye’s forged signature on it and with that of Plein.

They said the money has apparently been cleared out of the account it was sent to by Plein in order to confirm Kanye as the act at his show.
