On Friday, the news of the death of baby Benaiah swept through social media, leaving many heartbroken. Baby Benaiah made news few weeks ago after a video of his father, Monday Agoboye, publicly soliciting for funds to treat him surfaced online. Baby Benaiah was born with multiple holes in his heart and was in dire need of a surgery which was estimated to cost N15 million. Nigerians rallied round and raised N70 million. Sadly, baby Benaiah died yesterday.

In a statement released today, Benaiah’s father, said they were on their way to the airport to fly to Dubai when he developed complications. He died at the Lagos State Teaching hospital where he was rushed to. The body of little Benaiah is currently at the morgue where an autopsy is to be carried out in a few days time. Read the statement below

It is with great sadness that We announce the passing of our son, Baby Benaiah “braveheart” Agoboye. Baby Benaiah died on our way to the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos for a flight to Dubai Scheduled for 12.55pm local time yesterday, the 15th of February, 2019. In our company at the time was the Doctor, whose duty was to manage Benaiah’s health on the trip. He battled extensively as we raced to Afriglobal Medicare, the nearest health facility on our way to the Airport, from where we proceeded to LASUTH; where unfortunately Baby Benaiah passed at about 10.30am. His body remains at LASUTH awaiting autopsy.

The family is deeply saddened by this event, as all arrangements had been concluded for Benaiah’s treatment at the Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital(FZ LLC) in Dubai. We were scheduled to Fly with Emirates Airline, which was specially equipped with the facilities to manage Benaiah’s condition at a high altitude. We got into Lagos (when) in preparations to fly earlier but had to wait our turn since we were informed by the airline that there were other passengers with medical conditions earlier scheduled for the same arrangement.

We would like to thank everyone who has been of great support to the Monday Family through these challenging times. The team at UPTH for managing Baby Benaiah’s condition since he was 2months old, the staff and management of Afriglobal Medicare for availing us their facilities for free in time of the emergency. We also thank the team at LASUTH for their effort and support.

The family is also overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of love, support and prayers we have received from around the world. We give special appreciation to all of you who went out of your way to give your hard earned money and precious time to post and brought baby beniaiah’s story to the world. You are all deeply appreciated.

Woman came up with smart plan to deceive her parents so she could travel to be with her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day

5c681243b935b.jpg

A woman wanted to be with her boyfriend on Valentine’s day, so she came up with an ingenuous plan to deceive her parents and make her Valentine’s day plan possible

Facebook user Ijeoma Chinonyerem shared the story on Facebook writing:

What we do for za D!

So couple of years back, we were on strike during Valentine. Not general ASU strike o. Yeye EBSU strike. Those people can like to strike for nonsense.

An acquaintance had a boo staying in Lagos that she wanted to spend the Val’s day with. Actually she had other boos but that one dey bring out cash like say tomorrow no dey. But how could she travel for the Valentine’s day when her very strict popsy dey house?

She couldn’t lie and say the strike was over cos her brother also attends the same school. What would she tell him? Which excuse you wan use travel for Valentine when you dey strike?

So babe came up with a plan.

An ingenious plan.

From the money bobo send am, she went to a printing press and printed a wedding invitation card. Just a sample. She came back and showed it to her parents. She told them Ngozi, her best friend in the secondary school was getting married on the 15th of February in Lagos and she was one of the bridesmaids.

3 days later she went to the market and bought some materials and came back and told the house the phantom best friend sent her the material for asoebi through Onitsha Mass.

Her folks believed her. Even gave her money for transport. She sewed it, got ready and on 13th, she left to Lagos for the wedding.

After spending the Valentine’s day with the man, on the 15th they went to the market. They bought chinaware, food flask and some plastics. They also bought stickers, printed Ngo weds Ben on it and slapped it on the gifts as souvenir.

They then crashed a wedding where she took pictures with a group of people standing next to the bride and groom and other random pictures. She made sure to wear that particular asoebi gown she sowed.

She came back on the 16th with the pictures and souvenir as evidence of the wedding she attended and nobody suspected pim.

After the strike when she was gisting us the story, we touched the hem of her leggings so the anointing go enter our body. Bow down when you see innovation.

She’s been married for over 5 years now and not to the Lagos guy.

Moral of the story: Where there is a D, there is a way.

Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade has reacted to the postponement of the election and poor treatment of youth corpers who are being used as ad-hoc staff by INEC.

According to her, ‘I still maintain what I said about this program some years Ago. Is this compulsory? Why do you accept to do this and put yourself in harms way? Why do parents Allow their children do this? INEC is this how you should threat ppl’s children “serving” Nigeria? #NYSC’.

She added that, ‘until we are all individually ready to be defiant and stand against injustice and degradation, these Abuses won’t stop. It starts in the Mind. Rise above the excuses, the “pity me” , ” its hustle” , ” its poverty” syndrome . You’re worth More. What more can I say. Im exhausted’.

I received about 50 direct messages from ladies hitting on me after my divorce prank – Seyi Law

5c67f54ee6575.jpg

Last week, comedian, Seyi Law, made news after he announced on Instagram that he is separating from his wife, Stacey.  Seyi had posted;

”Due to irreconcilable differences would have been enough to announce this, but the kind and beautiful heart of my ex-wife must be stated. She is one of the best women I have ever known. It is however sad, that I announce that my wife and I have decided to part ways for good. We will appreciate your love and support at this time. God bless you. Tiwaloluwa is safe and good.”

He later quashed the news stating that his marriage of 8 years is intact and that he only pulled a  prank on Nigerians in order to get buzz for his show. He also apologised to his wife for the joke.

In an interview with Punch, Seyi said he received over 50 direct messages from women after the prank. He said the women were hitting on him.

”I was going to the UK to visit my wife and promote my show as well. While I was on the plane, I just had that weird idea. I was curious about what people’s reaction would be if they heard that Seyi Law was no longer married. I knew that if I was going to test it, I had to be sarcastic and witty about it. That was why I put some words in a way that people would not pay attention to (what I was doing). Apparently, they didn’t pay attention to the details. I tried to play with words in that post. Interestingly, the incident showed me that people love and appreciate my family; I also learnt that bad news travels faster (than good news).

“I thank God for a good and understanding wife. I didn’t take permission from her before playing that prank. When she saw it, she couldn’t reach me because I was still on the plane. People had been calling her repeatedly. Also, when I landed, my phone rang repeatedly. I called her to explain things to her immediately we saw each other. She said I should have carried her along because she didn’t know what to tell people when they called her. My wife is my number one critic; that is the beautiful thing about my marriage.

“I had over 80,000 hits on my Instagram page that day; my followers grew by over 3,000 within 24 hours. I had over 50 ladies hitting on me with direct messages; that’s to tell you how mad the world can be. I don’t want to talk about what the ladies were saying for now,” he said.

The former Education minister had taken to Twitter to react to the postponement of the presidential election and poor treatment of Corpers across the country when a Twitter user attacked her for letting the country down.

While responding to the Twitter user, she wrote: ‘Ha, my dear young one, this  your tweet is neither based on knowledge nor facts o. I withdrew from the race to uphold my Core Values. That’s not “a let down of my country” o, except of course in the eyes of those people who do not care for the Values that I hold dear and live by.’

“I am deeply disappointed” President Buhari reacts to postponement of the election

5c67f27d0af8e.PNG

President Buhari has expressed disappointment at the postponement of the elections by INEC. Read his statement below.

I am deeply disappointed that despite the long notice given and our preparations both locally and internationally, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections within hours of its commencement.

Many Nigerians have traveled to various locations to exercise their right to vote, and international observers are gathered.

INEC themselves have given assurances, day after day and almost hour after hour that they are in complete readiness for the elections. We and all our citizens believed them.

This administration has ensured that we do not interfere in any way with the work of INEC except to ensure that all funds were released to the commission.

We now urge INEC to ensure not only that materials already distributed are safe and do not get into wrong hands, but that everything is done to avoid the lapses that resulted in this unfortunate postponement, and ensure a free and fair election on the rescheduled dates.

While I reaffirm my strong commitment to the independence, neutrality of the electoral umpire and the sanctity of the electoral process and ballot, I urge all political stakeholders and Nigerians to continue to rally round INEC at this trying national moment in our democratic journey.

I, therefore, appeal to all Nigerians to refrain from all civil disorder and remain peaceful, patriotic and united to ensure that no force or conspiracy derail our democratic development.

I have decided to move back to Abuja to ensure that the 14.00 hrs meeting called by INEC with all stakeholders is successful.
