Boy claiming to be Timmothy Pitzen who went missing in 2011 gives police correct birth date and dad’s name

A 14-year-old boy was found wandering the streets and when he was asked, he claimed he is Timmothy Pitzen, a boy who was last seen alive in 2011, and police believe he might be telling the truth after he supplied the correct answers to personal questions about Timmothy.

The teenager has given police vital information that could prove he is telling the truth. He gave police the correct birthday and said that his middle name was James, his dad’s Christian name, CBS Chicago reported.

Timmothy’s family are now waiting for DNA results to confirm whether the youngster is indeed their missing relative, with confirmation expected within the next 24 hours.

The youngster claiming to be the missing child was spotted wandering the streets by concerned onlookers, and told them who he was. He claimed to have been held by kidnappers for the last seven years, and said he had escaped from a Red Roof Inn hotel, where he was being held by two male bodybuilders.

The boy, who is said to have looked as if he had been beaten up, claimed to have escaped the hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He says he then ran across a bridge spanning the Ohio river and into neighboring Newport, Kentucky.

Timmothy Pitzen was last seen in May 2011. That was just before his mother took her life.

He was last seen being dropped off at his school in Aurora, Illinois, by his dad in May 2011. He was picked up by his mother Amy Fry-Pitzen later that day, and taken on a mini-vacation to a zoo and several water parks in Wisconsin.

Fry-Pitzen then killed herself in a hotel room, leaving a suicide note saying that she’d left her son with people who loved him, adding: “You’ll never find him.”

Timmothy’s dad Jim says he and his wife had been having marital difficulties, but added that her vanishing act with their son had come as a complete shock.

Timmothy’s grandmother Alana Anderson says she is “cautiously hopeful” that the boy will turn out to be Timmothy and that he can be reunited with his family.

Dangote speaks on why Northern states may always lead as the poorest states in Nigeria

Africa’s richest man and one of the leading entrepreneurs in Nigeria, Aliko Dangote, has given reasons why states in Northern Nigeria will always remain poor despite their agricultural strength.

Dangote gave the reasons yesterday April 3rd when he spoke at the fourth Economic and Investment Summit in Kaduna. The businessman said;

“Northern Nigeria will continue to fall behind if respective state governments do not move to close the development gap and that is why we are always saying that the biggest challenge we have and what we are always praying for is to have 10 governors like Nasir el-Rufai.

It is instructive to know that the 19 Northern states, which account for over 54 per cent of the country’s population and 70 per cent of its landmass, collectively generated only 21 per cent of the total sub-national internally generated revenue (IGR) in 2017.

The North should focus on harnessing its massive agricultural potential in terms of production and processing. No region with such agricultural potential should be this poor. We have what it takes to turn around our fortunes and I pray all the 19 governors of the Northern states will wake up and follow the Kaduna State example.”

Why Buhari is yet to sign the N30,000 minimum wage bill – Presidency explains

The Presidency has explained that President Buhari is yet to sign the National Minimum Wage Bill just passed by the National Assembly into law, contrary to reports last week that he had done so.

The Senate had on March 19 passed the bill, approving N30,000 as the new national minimum wage. By its action, the Senate concurred the earlier decision of the House of Representatives, which passed the bill before the National Assembly shut down its operations to enable lawmakers to participate in the 2019 general elections, beginning from February 16.

Last week, there were social media reports, claiming that Buhari had assented to the bill, but speaking in an exclusive interview with Punch in Abuja on Wednesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, dismissed the reports.

He said that signing of bills was not done in secrecy, as the President would normally communicate his decision to Nigerians publicly. Enang clarified that Buhari had yet to sign the bill on the grounds that there were operational procedures to be followed. However, he confirmed that the bill, which captured N30,000 as the new national minimum wage, had been transmitted to Buhari by the National Assembly.

Enang said, “The bill has been transmitted to Mr President; that I can confirm. Right now, the bill is undergoing standard presidential, operational procedures in respect of bills. We are within time. At the appropriate time, Mr President will take a decision and make it public. Therefore, the report that Mr President has already signed the bill is not correct.”

The passage of the bill by the Senate coincided with the submission of the report on the new national minimum wage by the Presidential Technical Advisory Committee Buhari set up to advise the Federal Government on how to pay a wage increase above the current N18,000.

Nipsey Hussle’s alleged murderer is being held in solitary confinement on $7M bail as cops fear for his life

Man suspected of fatally shooting rapper Nipsey Hussle is currently being held in solitary confinement where he will be all alone and won’t be allowed to mingle with the general population because they believe he is a target.

Eric Holder, 29, was arrested around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 9900 block of Artesia Boulevard in Bellflower by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies after a witness called authorities to report seeing a person believed to be Holder at a mental health facility.

Deputies responded and detained the man before Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to Lakewood Sheriff’s Station and confirmed he was Holder.

A court appearance for Holder has not yet been scheduled.

Rapper Nipsey Hussle whose real name is Ermias Joseph Asghedom was one of three men shot outside The Marathon clothing store. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other two men were in stable condition.

According to The Blast, Holder has a criminal record that includes a 2009 arrest and charge of domestic battery against the mother of his child. He pleaded down the battery charge by agreeing to complete an anger management treatment program and stay 100 yards away from the woman.

He was also arrested in 2012 and charged with carrying a loaded gun. He made a deal with prosecutors and was sentenced to six months in Los Angeles County jail.

According to court records obtained by The Blast, Holder was ordered not to “own, use or possess any dangerous or deadly weapons, including firearms, knives or other concealable weapons.

National Judicial Council advises President Buhari to immediately retire suspended CJN, Walter Onnoghen

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended the immediate compulsory retirement of the Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen, based on “incontrovertible” findings on him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC).

The Nation reports that the NJC urged the President to allow Justice Onnoghen retain his seat as a former CJN in the Council of State and should be retired with full benefits.

A source within the NJC said  “because of the sensitivity of the matter”, the compulsory retirement of Justice Onnoghen was the major highlight of NJC’s meeting yesterday.

All NJC members were said to have decided not to comment on  the meeting because “it would not be right to do so when a letter has been sent to  the President  on their decision.” He should get the letter before any comment, the source said.

“The NJC has been able to navigate the most challenging moment for the nation’s judiciary by recommending compulsory retirement of Onnoghen with full benefits. The NJC specifically demanded that the CJN be allowed to take his eminent position in the Council of State like his predecessors. If these recommendations are accepted, the Executive may be on the same page with the Judiciary by staying action on the ongoing trial and other pending trials of the CJN” he said

The NJC may have adopted a “win-win approach” to ensure that the Executive and the Judiciary are on the same page.”

Another source familiar with how the NJC arrived at its decision said the “EFCC’s report on the suspended CJN was damning and incontrovertible”.

The anti-graft agency have accused the CJN of “being in possession of funds which are fairly not attributable to his known, provable and legitimate source of income”. The opening of a dollar account in Standard Chartered Bank for the CJN by a lawyer, Joe Agi, with $30,000 was said to be unhealthy.

The EFCC had accused Justice Onnoghen of being unable to account for curious deposits in his accounts which had accumulated to $1,716, 000.

The amounts in the said account were deposited as follows: $74,200 (2009); $291,800 (2010); $340,000 (2011); $625,000 (2012); $298,000 (2013); $40,000 (2015) and $47,000 (2016). The total was $1,716,000.

The agency also accused Justice Onnoghen of depositing $1,716,000 in a United States dollar account operated with the Standard Chartered Bank in 2009, marked as exhibit P4 C, between 2009 and 2016.

The petition against the suspended CJN reads in part

“From the evidence on record, it is clear that the Respondent failed to declare all the accounts and funds in exhibit P4-P4D when he declared his 2014 asset in November 2016. Your lordship will observe that the Respondent only declared his salary account with the Union Bank exhibit P3 and failed to declare P4-P4D, which are the accounts that warehoused funds that are far above the Respondent’s known and provable lawful income.

“My lords, by the provisions of Rule 1.2 of the Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers, it is clear that because members of the public expect a high standard of conduct from a judge, the Respondent is under the obligation to avoid impropriety  and the appearance of impropriety in all his activities both in his professional and private life. It is our submission my lords, that any conduct of the Respondent that give rise to the appearance of impropriety is a judicial misconduct and same is punishable under the Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers.

“It is our humble submission that the petitioner proved before this Honourable Panel that the Respondent was in possession of funds which are fairly not attributable to his known, proveable and legitimate source of income. The evidence shows that my lord earned a monthly salary in the sum of N750,819.87, which is about N9,000,000.00 per annum. My lords, as shown in exhibit P10A page 14 paragraph XXVI, the Respondent only earned the sum of N91,962,362.49 as salary between September 2005 and October 2016. It is also on record that the exhibit P3 is the salary account of my lord wherein his salaries are paid.

“My lords, the evidence before this Honourable Committee shows clearly that the Respondent opened United State Dollars account with the Standard Chartered Bank in 2009, exhibit P4 C. This USD account was opened by Mr. Joe Agi SAN and the first cash depositor of United States of America dollars into the said account. We humbly refer my lords to the entry of the 29th day of June,2009.

“Though the Respondent claimed that he was the one who gave the learned SAN, Joe Agi the $30,000.00 to deposit to exhibit P4C, the Respondent could not give any reasonable explanation as to the source of this money. My lords, the Respondent admitted under cross-examination that the USD was not his salary and that he only received dollars as estacodes which is meant for his official trips.

“My lords, upon the opening of the USD account exhibit P4C, a lot of cash deposits in Dollars were made to this account. The evidence before my lords is that between 2009 and 2016 a lot of cash deposits were made into exhibit P4C.

“My lords, from the evidence before this Honourable Panel, it is clear that these huge sums of money were not earned by the Respondent as his salaries and allowances. It is our humble submission that the burden of proving the legitimate source or origin of the sum of $1,716,000.00 lies heavily on the Respondent.”

The amounts in the said account were deposited as follows: $74,200 (2009); $291,800 (2010); $340,000 (2011); $625,000 (2012); $298,000 (2013); $40,000 (2015) and $47,000 (2016). The total was $1,716,000.

Others cautioned about the dangers of making everything about tribe.

Underage girl accuses Winners Chapel pastor in Edo of introducing her to alcohol and repeatedly having sex with her

A 17-year old girl has accused the resident Pastor of the Amagba branch of the Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel, Pastor Kingsley Emeka Mokwunye, of introducing her to alcohol and repeatedly having sex with her even in her father’s house.

Speaking in tears, the victim whose name was withheld by the police, said her affair with her pastor began in September last year shortly after she finished her secondary education.

“He used to call me to advise me to stay away from boys, to live a good life and always respect my parents. I took it like he was my own father that I could trust and tell him anything I want to say.

“That was how he started calling me, talking to me till it got to a time he told me that he likes me. I took it as a normal thing. He started taking advantage of me. He tells me I do not know what he is doing for me. He started showing me things I have not seen before and took me to places I have never been to. That was how it started. He was the first person to show me how condom looked like. He taught me how to take alcohol.  He told me not to tell my parents. He said they will understand what he is doing. He slept with me many times including our house when my parents are not at home.

“Thinking about the thing has affected me educationally. I could not read. The whole thing was disturbing me. When I told his wife, she said I was lying and told me to come to their house and repeat it before her husband.  I want Pastor Kingsley to go to jail. I was always shocked anytime I am in church and see him preaching. I was afraid of telling my mother what was happening”.

Her father, Mr Paul Obidah, who serves as a board chairman of the church branch, said he was shocked that a Pastor he trusted so much could do such an evil thing to his only daughter.

“I have been in the church for the past 27 years. I started the church in Kaduna State. Abioye led me to Christ. I have been in Kaduna all these years. It got to a time. I decided to relocate home. We have been in Bénin serving God with our heart. Many pastors have come to the branch and go. I see the pastors as Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith. There was a day Pastor Kingsley came to my house, I could smell alcohol from his breath.

“One day, his wife came and said she wants to see our daughter. I left her to discuss. I heard my daughter telling her she has something to tell her. The next day, the woman came and told me she has seized her husband’s phone because of the calls her husband was making to my daughter. I just said maybe it was a family friend matter. She said he went to pick my daughter at school, I said maybe he bought her ice cream.

“I was sleeping when something struck me to ask my daughter what is happening. I called and asked her to open up to me. She began telling me how the Pastor used to make love to her in my own house. The different hotels he took her to. She said it was a burden to her. She said she does not know what the pastor gave to her. This is a Pastor we trusted. We talked and do everything as a family. I didn’t know he has been doing this nonsense in my house. This is a girl that does not go out. She has been in” he said

”Please forgive us” – Repentant Boko Haram members appeals to Nigerians

Repentant members of the Boko Haram sect have pleaded with Nigerians to forgive them for their nefarious activities over the years. The repentant sect members made the appeal after  their graduation from a de-radicalisation exercise and vocational training organised for them by the Federal Government which took place at the former permanent NYSC Orientation camp in  Mallam-Sidi town in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State yesterday April 3rd.

Bappah Mura, a former member of the sect who was once a farmer, said he was deceived into joining the group only to realise that all they were told were lies;

“I beg Nigerians for forgiveness. I regret totally what we were forced to do; it was not my intention but I beg for forgiveness. I was a humble farmer before I was deceived to join the Boko Haram sect. All they told us were different from all we were made to do; they lied to me and deceived many of us.  My heart bleeds that we were used to destroy lives and property by the sect. But today, I am so happy that we have been trained and made to acquire skills in different ventures. I am grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Army” Bappah said

In the same vein, a 62-year-old ex-Boko Haram member, Abana Ali, said he was sorry for everything, noting that they were also terrorised while with the sect until the army came to their rescue.

“I am deeply pained in the heart that we had been associated with such a devilish group; I beg Nigerians to forgive and accept us back. We were deceived and forced to join the sect; because of my age, I was not allowed to partake in their operations, but was made to do menial jobs in their camps; we were also terrorised and enslaved, until the Army rescued us.

“We are grateful to the Federal Government for the show of love; the de-radicalisation training has been helpful and now I do not need to go home to beg, but to contribute what I have been taught.  Nigerian youths out there, I tell you the truth; there is no gain being Boko Haram members, except for regret and intense sorrow; we pray that no youth witness the harsh condition we were subjected to” he said

Photo: Lady recounts how she was raped by a serial rapist on her birthday in Ebonyi

A 22-year-old Nigerian lady simply identified as Miss Cynthia, has recounted how she was raped by a serial rapist on her birthday in Ebonyi state opposite her home in Umualoma axis of Nkaliki, Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State where she resides with her parents.

Narrating her ordeal, Cynthia said

“I was celebrating my birthday. I went out to get something for me and my male cousin to eat that evening. After getting the thing, on my way back, a guy just grabbed me and took me inside his room. I have never seen that guy and I don’t know him. I was shouting and he said that even though I shout nobody will come to rescue me.

“After he finished raping me, he locked the door and went outside. Unfortunately, he left his phone in the room. Then I used his phone to dial my phone which was in our house. It was my elder sister in the house that picked the call. I told them what happened. She told me to knock harder that someone will open the door. I was knocking before a guy told him to come and open the door for this girl to come out.

“Immediately he opened the door, I pushed him and ran outside. That was how I went home. His house is opposite our house in Umualoma area of Nkaliki. I have never seen his face before. I have never had an“encounter with him before the incident. The occupants of that building were all there when the thing happened but they couldn’t do anything because they were afraid of him. When he opened the door, it was around 6pm”.

While reacting to the unfortunate incident, her father, said all he wants now is justice for his daughter

“I want justice because the information I got was that the guy is a rapist and he has been dragging girls into his house and raping them. The people around there don’t talk to him because the guy is a cultist. Sometimes, when he drags any girl into his house, he would lock her there for some days.

“They said that he uses charms. After raping the girls, they would not be able to remember the house again. I think he was even surprised that this one recognised that building. So, it is something he has been doing and he often went scot-free.”

Speaking further, he said

I was called by her sister that she was not at home. When we called her line, it was ringing. It was her male cousin that picked it in the parlour and told me that she went to buy something and he has not seen her since. So we tried but there was no way to reach her again. “So, I returned home; took my daughter and we began to search through her phone to see the last call she made that day. We were trying the numbers but they were not going. Eventually, a call came in through her own set. Her sister picked the call and it was her. ‘Where are you?’ She said that a guy dragged her into his room and raped her and then locked her inside.

“Unfortunately, he went out and left his phone inside his room. She used the guy’s phone and called her own phone which we picked. After some minutes, she called to tell us she was home. We went there with a friend and this my daughter. The boy was sitting there. I tried to ask him questions but he was telling me that if I disturb him, he will shoot my leg. “We left him and went to AK office and reported. So the AKs followed us. As at that time, it was around after 6pm or 7pm; it was a little bit dark. So, when we went there, he left the building and went to a building in front of his house and sat there; watching.

“By the time we arrived in his house, he was not there. Immediately we came out, he saw us and ran away. The AK guys went after him but they couldn’t catch him. They later found him in a dark place but he challenged the two AK guys with an axe and thereafter ran into the bush. “We later went back to the AK office.

We were there and my son called me saying that some boys had caught him as he went to pack his luggage. They held him but as they were struggling, he stabbed the boy that held him and the boy left him and he ran away again.

Confirming the incident, the state police command spokesperson, ASP Loveth Odah, said

“Years back, there was this particular recycling criminal that any time he sees women on top of a motorcycle or walking on the road alone close to his house, he would drag them into his room, rape them and push them out. Efforts are on top gear and we are seriously searching for him to arrest him”, Odah stated.
