Newsflash: Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé allegedly are not friends. Even though they’re seen together occasionally, the friendship is reportedly rather one-sided, with Kardashian allegedly bending over backward to get into Queen Bey’s good graces but failing miserably. Why aren’t these superstars BFFs?
Well, for starters there’s the Kanye West factor. Kardashian’s rapper/producer husband was already a polarizing figure in the music world even before he started calling out Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, on stage during his disastrous 2016 Saint Pablo Tour. That couldn’t have helped things.
Of course, the whole thing Kim v. Bey feud has also been reduced to the easy explanation that they just don’t have much in common. Kardashian is a reality star whose fame is dependent on sharing her whole life with her fans, whereas Beyoncé keeps her personal life almost entirely disconnected from her career. Could it really be that simple, or is there more to Bey’s seemingly arms-length approach to the first lady of reality TV? Let’s dive into the real reasons Beyoncé can’t stand Kim Kardashian.
Maybe Beyoncé keeps her distance from Kim Kardashian because of Kardashian’s husband, rapper Kanye West, who won’t stop spreading rumors about Bey and her man.
E! News reported that at a stop on his since-cancelled Saint Pablo Tour in November 2016, West ranted from the stage, “Beyoncé, I was hurt ’cause I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won video of the year over me and over ‘Hotline Bling.'” He added, “Now, don’t go trying to diss Beyoncé. She is great … We are all great people. We are all equal, but sometimes we be playing the politics too much and forgetting who we are just to win.”
The expletive-laden tirade went on and on. West eventually set his sites on Bey’s husband, Jay-Z, saying, “Jay-Z, call me, bruh. You still ain’t called me. Jay-Z, call me … Jay-Z: I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man.”
Of course, West’s remarks are his own, but if Kardashian’s only connection to Beyoncé was through West’s tumultuous relationship with Jay-Z, then it’s obvious there would be a strain there. As it turns out, Jay-Z would later confirm the fractured friendship
“My name is JC and I am a workaholic.”
JC, who lives in Tampa Bay, Florida, says she needed a lot of courage the first time she stood up and said that in front of a group of people she had never met before.
JC, who doesn’t want us to reveal her full name, had gone along to a meeting of Workaholics Anonymous because she felt she couldn’t cope anymore.
A 40-year-old healthcare worker, who had conquered her alcoholism and an eating disorder, she says she couldn’t experience the serenity that she hoped sobriety would bring because she instead had become addicted to working.
“I was constantly obsessed with work,” she says. “I realised I used work to numb out and avoid myself, my feelings and my fears.
Her work addiction and the stress that came with it affected her health.
“I had premature grey hair within three months of starting a management position,” she says. “I experienced adrenal fatigue… I have a heart condition.”
Following a similar 12-step recovery plan to the one first devised by Alcoholics Anonymous, Workaholics Anonymous started in the US in the early 1980s.
Today there are more than 100 meeting groups around the world, from Argentina to the US, the UK and Japan. There is also the possibility of joining an online meeting via Skype or over the phone.
But how do you know if you are a workaholic? And what other ways are there to get help?
Wilmar Schaufeli, a professor of work and organisational psychology at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, describes a workaholic as “a person who works obsessively hard in a compulsive way”.
“So it’s a combination between excessive work and compulsive work, compulsive tendency.”
He adds that going to Workaholics Anonymous works for many sufferers because “you see people who have the same problem, so you are not alone. I think this is an important thing for all kinds of behavioural problems or addictions.”
For other people with work addiction problems, having one-to-one therapy with a trained professional might be the answer.
But what actually can lead to work addition?
Dr Claudia Herbert, a clinical psychologist at the Oxford Development Centre, in Putney, Oxfordshire, often treats sufferers. She says that many workaholics have other mental health disorders.
“Lots of clients may feel depressed, they may actually think that life is a little bit empty, they may have anxiety problems, they may also have aHerbert says that many workaholics have other mental health problems
The condition can be triggered by someone having to work too hard in the first place. “People often have to take jobs that in previous times would have been done by two or three people,” she says.
Work addiction may be caused in part by a person being pushed too hard by his or her parents in their earlier life. “People who as children were reinforced by their achievements rather than who they are, they are more likely to become work addicted,” she adds.
When it comes to the types of jobs where people are more vulnerable to becoming workaholics, Prof Schaufeli says it is more a case of senior professionals rather than those with jobs on the lower rungs of the workplace ladder.
He says that self-employed people are also vulnerable because they can become obsessed by their businesses.
Prof Schaufeli adds that work addicts very often don’t see that their behaviour is problematic because the fact they are doing vast amounts of work often means they are earning more and being promoted.
When it comes to treating work addiction, Dr Herbert says it needs to be individually tailored to each sufferer, and getting to the bottom of what caused it.
At Retreat South, a rehabilitation centre and mental health retreat in the Australian state of Victoria, they run a work-related stress and executive burnout programme, trying to get people’s work/life balance back.
The programme started six years ago, and the average length of stay is one month, with prices from 8,000 Australian dollars ($6,100; £4,400) per week.
Most of the clients are Australian, but they also have some from Asia and Europe.
“We work on the guilt – I haven’t been a good parent, I haven’t been a good partner,” says Jane Enter, Retreat South’s clinical director jane Enter says that her rehabilitation centre aims to help people rebalance their lives
“People should reconnect to who they are, it’s about getting a more balanced life.”
Back in Florida, JC – who first went to Workaholics Anonymous back in 2012 – now volunteers for the organisation.
“I have more time for fun and relationships with people,” she says. “I have the same job. However, because I have changed the way I think and act it is much more manageable.
“I place limits on the number of hours I work in a day.”
A father has been jailed for nine years for raping his daughter, leading her to commit suicide. He was convicted thanks to an evidence the teenager gave to police before taking her life.
James Elder held down and abused Jamie-Leigh Craig at his flat in Glasgow’s Parkhead in September 2016 and she was found dead three months later at her home in the city’s Southside.
Shortly after the rape, the 19-year-old spoke to police. She also tearfully told her mother what happened before she took her life.
Her statement to police naming Elder as the attacker was read out at the High Court in Glasgow. It led to the 43-year-old being convicted of the horrific sex attack after a trial last month.
The rape happened when Jamie walked out of the family home following a row. She ended up at her father’s flat. When she didn’t return home, she was reported missing. She eventually returned with two police officers but was not herself.
Describing her at that time, her mother Liz Craig told the court:
It was not the daughter I knew. She was hysterical. She was just confused, irritable…just all over the place.
The mum said her daughter went on to blurt out that Elder “raped” her.
The woman told the jury:
She kneeled beside me and started crying.
She put her head onto my lap. I just grabbed her. I put my arms around her and gave her a cuddle.
I wish I could do that now.
The victim spoke to police the day after the rape. Her harrowing account was read at the trial by one of the officers who met with her. Miss Craig recalled being at Elder’s home that night and claimed three other men were also there. She told police the attack happened after one of the other individuals tried to kiss her before Elder struck.
I was being held down by my arms and he was having sex with me.
The attack was said to have lasted 10 minutes, but “seemed like forever”. She recalled at one point “slapping” out in a bid to get away.
She added to police: “I remember feeling disgusting.”
Her mum often became emotional during her own testimony.
Asked if she was fine to continue, the victim’s mother replied: “I am never going to be alright, but carry on. I just want to get justice. I am my daughter’s voice now. You will never understand until you lose a child.”
Weeks after the attack, Elder told a visitor to his home that he felt “guilty” about having sex with the teenager. He had also apparently written a letter claiming she had been “coming on to him” and they slept together twice.
But Elder “maintains his position” of denial. He insists he did no such thing, but his daughter’s testimony led to his conviction. When Jamie-Leigh’s statement was read out during the trial at the High Court in Glasgow, Elder wept and dabbed his eyes with a handkerchief.
Elder was sentenced to 9 years in prison for violent rape of his daughter but Jamie-Leigh’s family spoke out after the trial last month insisting Elder should have been charged with murder.
Her mum Liz said at the time: “He’s got blood on his hands.”
She added: “The last thing I said to Jamie Leigh as I was standing by her coffin was: ‘I’ll get justice for you’.”
An exclusive report by Premium Times says that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board generated N8.453billion from the sales of forms to applicants seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria in 2018.
According to the report, the revenue came from payments made by 1,602,762 candidates who registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held across the country in March.
Part of the revenue also came from registration fees paid by 135, 670.00 Direct Entry (DE) candidates, our source said. The official asked not to be named because he did not obtain official permission to divulge the details to journalists. Each of the total 1,798,438 UTME and direct entry candidates paid N5,500 for the forms out of which N4,700 goes to JAMB’s coffers while N800 is remitted to banks and suppliers of reading texts to applicants, the official further explained.
The number of applicants was lower this year following reforms in the application process which effectively blocked multiple registration by candidates. About N1.8million UTME and DE candidates sought tertiary admissions in 2017. It is not exactly clear how much the Board will remit to the Federal Government this year after settling computer-based test centres, and paying other service providers and exam officials. In 2017, the examination body paid in N7.8 billion to the government.
The report said since the arrival of Is-haq Oloyede, a professor, as registrar, JAMB had ceased to request funding from the federal government for its capital and recurrent expenditures. “The registrar is now asking the government to allow JAMB handle the payment of salaries and allowances to its personnel. He believes that will enable the board to improve the working condition of its staff by paying them better. Since he is blocking loopholes for stealing and eradicating corruption, the registrar believes it is important that staff are better paid from the revenues they help make every year. That way, they will not be tempted to revert to corrupt acts.”
The official said Mr. Oloyede has also asked the government to allow JAMB spend N2billion from its revenue this year, and another N2billion next year, to upgrade its corporate headquarters in Abuja and improve its state offices across the country. “But as you know, there has to be approval and everything has to be appropriated before any spending can be made,” he said
Kendall Jenner has reacted to her younger sister Kylie Jenner having a baby before her. She also opened up about how model Hailey Baldwin once came between her and Kylie.
Opening up with Lana Del Rey for the new issue of Elle magazine, Kendall said of Kylie’s pregnancy and childbirth:
It’s obviously a bit weird that your little sister is having a baby before you. I didn’t expect it to happen like this. But it’s beautiful.
Kendall added that Stormi’s birth has made their relationship stronger.
It’s brought us closer together. We’ve always been very close, but we would butt heads all the time. This has made her a bit more loving toward me.
Kendall also explained why she and Kylie once fought over their relationships with Hailey Baldwin, 21.
She was actually best friends with Kylie, and I was good friends with her cousin Ireland. Hailey lived in New York, and whenever we were there, we would hang out with her.
Kendall added that she “stole Hailey from Kylie” when the two attended New York Fashion Week together.
From then on, she was my homie. At first, Kylie was mad; I had to bring them back together and be like, ‘No, it’s okay, guys.’ But it’s all good; that’s our love story.
Kendall also revealed that she’s easily frustrated with those who can’t do without looking at their phones.
It’s an addiction. I’ll be at dinner with my good friends, and I’ll look at someone on their phone. They’re not texting someone, which I could accept. Maybe they’re talking about something important, or figuring out an email? No, they’re on Instagram and Twitter.
It really does irk me. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, you don’t need to see what everyone else is doing! It’s not like you’re sitting in bed right now.’ I strive to not be that person—to not live my life on my phone.

The Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, has produced an 18-year- old Boubini Jones-Wonni, as best graduating student from Miles College, Metropolitan Birmingham, Alabama, United States of America, USA.
Jones-Wonni who was declared by the university authority as best graduating student on May 5, 2018, got her admission in 2014 after making the best result in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, SSCE, at the Word of Faith Group of Schools in Abuja and was also the best student at age of 14.
She hails from Arogbo in Ondo State and was one of the children from the Niger-Delta states that sat for a special exam conducted by KAPLAN in Lagos to select the best to study in the university under the PAP, by a former Coordinator and Adviser on the PAP to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Hon. Kingsley Kuku.
She was initially granted admission by the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA, at age 15 to study Medicine, but could not make it to the school due to late resumption.
She therefore settled for Miles College in Alabama to pursue her first degree in Biology. Born on October 23, 1999, she started her education at Banky’s Private School in Abuja, where because of her intelligence, she was asked to enroll for the common entrance at primary three. She made the best result and was admitted into Word of Faith Group of Schools in Abuja, where she sat for the 2013/2014 SSCE and had an outstanding result with ‘As’ and ‘Bs’ in all her subjects, and was made valedictorian of the year.
“I want to express my gratitude to God and then to the Federal Government through the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, to avail me of this opportunity to gain admission into Miles College in Alabama to pursue my first degree in Biology. “Today, I have successfully completed the programme, I thank God for being with me throughout the programme, and He crowned my effort. I was not expecting this but I thank God.”
Meanwhile, Howard University, Washington D.C, USA, at the weekend granted her admission to study medicine, where she will become a trained neurologist and surgeon soon.
