Anthony Joshua’s next opponent is Jarrell Miller & the fight will go down on June 1st in New York

British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua, 29, will make his American debut by defending his WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight titles when he takes on New York’s Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden on June 1.

 

In a video posted to social media, Joshua whose last fight was against Russia’s Alexander Povetkin confirmed the bout with Jarrell Miller and explained why an agreement couldn’t be reached first for a showdown with US heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

 

He said; ‘June 1 I’ll be travelling to MSG. New York City, the Big Apple,’ Joshua said in a video posted to social media.

‘I’m there to take a bite out of that and I’ll be competing against Jarrell Miller.

‘Wembley is so close to my heart, it’s a great spot, a great location. I’ve fought in small halls, I’ve fought in arenas. And it’s been a humbling and a blessing to fight in those stadiums.

‘But now it’s time for a change. The current state of the division was the undisputed championship of the world.

‘Myself and [Deontay] Wilder are the current active champions of the world. We were looking to get that fight on April 13 but things happened, boxing politics, I’m sure you guys are aware.

So we had to branch out and look for other options. Miller came up. It’s an exciting fight, he’s an undefeated heavyweight.’

His opponent Miller, 30, in a statement also promised to knock out Anthony Joshua when they meet.

“AJ is making a huge mistake coming over here to fight me in my own backyard,” said Miller, undefeated in 24 professional fights.

“He wants to announce himself on the American stage but all he’s doing is delivering me those belts by hand. That punk ‘AJ’ is standing in the way of my dreams and on June 1 he’s getting run the hell over.”

Election: Lagos Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu deploys 30,000 policemen, assures water tight security

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu mni, has deployed 30,000 personnel, comprising the police and other law enforcement agencies for the 2019 general elections beginning with the Presidential and National Assembly election on 16/02/2019.

 

All personnel are expected to wear INEC identification tags, and are to secure the entire electoral process.

 

However, the police being the lead agency in internal security management, will coordinate other security and law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of the electoral laws; the preservation of law and order; as well as safety and security of human and material resources deployed for the elections.

In addition, the command has set up a joint operations room with the following dedicated lines through which members of the public can draw the attention of the police to distress situations or any untoward event in their locality.

Photo: Immigration arrests two suspected human traffickers in Katsina State, rescue nine children

The Katsina state command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested two suspected human traffickers and rescued nine suspected victims in the state.

The command comptroller, Joshua Ajisafe, who confirmed the development in a statement said that the arrest was achieved through an intelligence reports by the command provost.

The suspected traffickers are identified as 29 years old Deborah Adewunmi and Moriliya Ibrahim, 29.  The rescued victims are minor age ranging from nine months to eleven years old Indigines of Ogun state.

“They started their journey from Lagos to Kano, Kano-Katsina with the mission to travel to Libya without travel documents “ He said

Mr. Ajisafe further noted that the suspected traffickers intended to meet one Mustapha Ibrahim residing in Agadez to facilitate their journey to Libya.

“The claimed to have no money to feed themselves and the children, no transport money to move further from Katsina. Their attitude and behaviour resembles that of the child traffickers/child Labour “ He added.

The traffickers and their suspected victims were handed over to NAPTIP Zonal Office Kano for further investigation.

Plane crash kills five people in Kenya

Five people have died after a small plane carrying them from Kenya’s Maasai Mara nature reserve crashed in the west of the country.

 

According to Edward Mwamburi, police chief for the Rift Valley region, “there were five occupants in the plane and they did not survive”. He said the Cessna plane was heading from the Maasai Mara to Lodwar, near Lake Turkana and emergency services have been sent to the scene.

 

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2014, some 130,000 planes land and take off from Kenya each year, and the country has 35 operating airlines. The IATA said Kenya’s air transport infrastructure quality ranks 6th out of 37 countries surveyed in Africa.

 

In October 2017 five passengers were killed when a helicopter crashed into Lake Nakuru, while in 2012 a helicopter carrying internal security minister George Saitoti crashed, killing all six passengers on board. Kenya’s worst crash in recent years took place in 2007, when a Kenya Airways flight from Abidjan to Nairobi via Douala crashed into a swamp after take-off, killing all 114 passengers.

AIB releases preliminary report on Osinbajo helicopter crash

The Accident Investigation Bureau ( AIB ) has released the  preliminary report of the helicopter crash involving Agusta Westland W 139 Caverton Helicopters which flew Vice President to Kabba in Kogi State on February 2nd.

 

Speaking at a briefing at its headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos today Wednesday February 13th, AIB Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Akin Olateru, said preliminary report shows the helicopter crash was atrributed to the effects of a blown out generator during its landing in a dry dusty environment. The report said Caverton should have carried out risk assessment test at the Kaaba stadium before the flight.

 

Olateru said though the investigation into the crash is ongoing, it has however issued two safety recommendations to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the operator : Caverton Helicopters Limited. He added that the NCAA should issue advisory circular to helicopter operators on the effects of brown out and how to mitigate its effects. The second safety recommendation, Olateru said is for Caverton Helicopters to carry out proper risk analysis and assessment before operating flights into unapproved landing pad.

Olateru said the final report on the accident will be released in a few months.

Photos: 44-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping 6-year-old girl in Ogun

44-year-old, Rafiu Moruf, has been arrested by men of the Ogun state police command, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s six-year-old daughter at their home located behind Aferiku Secondary School, Idiroko in the state on Monday February 11th.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the victim opened up to her mother after she noticed her daughter’s awkward movement.

“Upon close examination, the woman discovered semen inside the girl’s private part. She questioned the girl and she revealed that the suspect took her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her. The woman reported at the Idiroko Police station and detectives went to the suspect’s house where he was promptly arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime. The victim has been taken to hospital for medical treatment and report” Oyeyemi said

The statement added that the state Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human trafficking and Child labour Unit of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation and prosecution.

Breaking: Boko Haram terrorists open fire on Governor Kashim Shettima’s convoy in Borno State

The convoy of Kashim Shettima, Governor of Borno State, has been reportedly attacked by terrorist group, Boko Haram.

 

According to a report by SaharaReporters, Shettima’s convoy was travelling from Maiduguri, the state capital, to Gamboru-Ngala when the insurgents struck, dividing his convoy into two and raining gun shuts on the one behind.

 

It is not yet clear how many people were injured or killed.

 

Recall in January 2019, Governor Shettima broke down in tears when he spoke about the increasing attacks by Boko Haram in his state during a meeting with President Buhari.

On the 13 of February 2017 Nsidibe Orok, Director of Child Development of ACAEDF and I went on a rescue mission alone.

A boy was abandoned and left alone on the street.

We found the boy with scars all over his body. He was accused of being a witch. He was brutally beaten.

This was the day Elijah was rescued, one of David Jr.’s best friends today.

Security agencies have arrested four fake soldiers in Imo State.

Imo state Police Commissioner, Dasuki Galadanchi, who paraded the suspects in Owerri before governorship candidates in the state signed peace pact on Tuesday, expressed worry at the arrest especially as the general elections draw near.

Galadanchi warned that such infiltrators will be arrested no matter how they disguised themselves. He urged the politicians to play by the rules and jettison all forms of violence.

“You will agree with me that this hard-earned peace and tranquillity we enjoy and experience in Imo state should be guarded jealously; thus, we have no other option than to ensure this endures before, during and after the elections.”

The Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Brigadier General H. I Bature, said two of  the fake soldiers were arrested escorting a politician, stressing that the kind of ammunition at their disposal were unimaginable.

He warned perpetrators of such acts that even if there are two among hundreds of soldiers, the army know how to identify their own.

He said the military will be more alert during the election as fake soldiers have infiltrated the state to cause chaos during the general elections.

He stated that desperate politicians have equipped hoodlums with Army uniforms and weapons to perpetrate violence in the state, warning that all those involved in the ignoble act will be fished out and dealt with.

PDP sues INEC over the use of card readers

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the Federal High Court in Abuja over the electoral body’s position on the use of card readers for the general election.

In the court papers dated Monday February 11th, PDP asked the court to restrict INEC from postponing elections in any polling unit as a result of a malfunctioning card reader. INEC had in the past said in the case where a smart card reader malfunctions, voting will be suspended till a new card reader arrives, or postponed till the next day if a replacement is not available by 2pm.

Part of the court papers reads

“10. (a) In accordance with Section 49 (2) of the Electoral Act, a person intending to vote shall be verified to be the same person on the Register of Voters by use of the Smart Card Reader (SCR) in the manner prescribed in these Regulations and Guidelines.

“(b) Any poll official who violates the provision of Clause 10 (a) shall be deemed to be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to prosecution.”

The party said this particular regulation does not align with section 49 of the electoral act. The section states: “(1) A person intending to vote with his voter’s card, shall present Issue of ballot papers himself to a Presiding Officer at the polling unit in the constituency in which his name is registered with his voter’s card.

“I have kids by two guys who f*cking tricked me” Blac Chyna slams Tyga and Rob Kardashian over child support (video)

Blac Chyna took to Instagram live to call out both her babies’ daddies.

 

The mother of two said that contrary to what the media makes people believe, both Tyga and Rob Kardashian do not pay her child support and she doesn’t give them grief about it.

 

She told her followers that she takes care of her kids herself and even when they went to court regarding payment of child support, she squashed the court battle, but such never makes it out to the media, only the bad things she does and the lies make headlines, she said.

She explained:

 

Ya know what’s so wild to me is that I never asked Tyga for child support, Rob for child support or whatever and then we just went to court, or whatnot, and I tried to squash it, which I did. But none of that comes out. It’s only negative sh*t with Chyna, Angela White.

 

She added:

 

We went to court mediation and sh*t and I squashed it ‘cause I never wanted no money from Rob, ‘cause it was never about that, period. I have kids by two guys that f*cking tricked me, whatever, and they don’t give me sh*t, no child support and I’m sick of that sh*t.

As the 2019 election draws nearer, the Senior Pastor of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Abioye, has advised his members to cast their vote in the interest of the church and not for the interest of any party or individual. Speaking during one of his services, the celrgyman said

”A clear instruction. When it is time to vote, vote only in the favour of your church and not your party. Any believer that sells out his faith to any party is heading for hell. Don’t open your eyes and vote for people who will kill you. If you kill your concience, you will answer before the lord. We may not have the best of candidates, but we have them in grades. You know a better candidate than an evil candidate.

Parents of bully victim release sick Snapchat video of their 11-year-old daughter being savagely attacked by bully after school

A sick Snapchat video captured the moment an 11-year-old girl was savagely beaten up on her way home from school.

 

In the sickening footage, Demi Martin was shoved into a wall, pulled by her hair and repeatedly hit as she walked home in Smallthorne, Stoke-on-Trent. Young schoolchildren who witnessed the attack filmed it, rather than put an end to the brutality.

 

The victim, who is in Year 7 at Haywood Academy in nearby Burslem, said she was eventually helped by a man and woman who gave her a drink. She added that she doesn’t know the bullies.

 

 

Demi said:

 

I didn’t know what was going on when she hit me. I didn’t even know who she was, it just came out of nowhere.

In the morning when I wake up I can feel my heart beating really loudly and I’m scared to go out with my friends. I’m dreading going back to school.

People in my class have been sending messages saying ‘ha ha you got beaten up’ and that I deserved it. I feel like I can’t get away from it, it’s really getting me down.

 

Demi’s furious dad Tim Martin, 33, and step-mum Jade Braxton, 26, asked Stoke Sentinel to publish a short clip of the violence, which was shared on Snapchat.

Step-mum Jade said:

Demi told us that she was walking home from school, so when it got to 3.50pm and she still hadn’t got in I was ringing her but there was no answer.

I rang again and a teacher answered who said she’s been taken into the school by a member of the public as she had been beaten up.

Tim went to the school to pick her up and we reported it to the police. Demi hasn’t been in school since. I think the school should permanently exclude the girl who did it.

We don’t want to send her back into school in case it happens again. It’s bullying. Demi’s education is important, but at the moment she’s too frightened to go to school.

 

She added:

The video has been posted online and the girl is bragging about what she has done to Demi. The video is really hard to watch, I cried when I first watched it, it’s heartbreaking.

We want to share the video so the parents of these children can tell them that this kind of behaviour is not OK.

 

 

The victim’s dad, Tim says he is grateful to the couple who stopped to help his daughter.

He said:

It’s horrible, absolutely terrible. I was quite upset. I’m grateful to the couple who actually helped her and brought her back to the school. She has bruises on her face, arms and legs and a chunk of her hair is missing.

It’s upsetting that other children think it’s OK to stand around and film this happening instead of trying to help.

When Demi came home on Friday she was shaking so she had a hot bath and while she was in there her phone was going off non-stop. Pupils at the school have been adding her into group chats and they are posting the video and laughing at her. She can’t get away from it, not even at home.

She’s too scared to go in as everyone in her class has seen the video. I wouldn’t like to be in her position.

She was still shaking two days later and she says when she wakes up in the morning she can feel her heart beating really fast. It’s made her anxious about going back to school.

We’re considering moving Demi to another school because of this. Demi is the one suffering by losing out on her education when she is the victim.

 

Staffordshire Police have now launched an investigation into the incident, which happened last Friday afternoon and left the girl with bruises, cuts, and part of her head bald after clumps of her hair were pulled out in the attack.

Two second half goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe were all Paris Saint Germain needed to overcome Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions round of 16 tie at Old Trafford.

Manchester came into game looking unbeatable and Psg came in with what we all believed to be a weakened side due to the injury of Neymar, Cavani and Meunier.

The first half was an end to end game which saw both sides having a crack at each other. Di Maria came close to an early opener from 20 yards out but he missed the mark while Manchester United golden boy Marcus Rashford had a shot on target after a wonderful team play.

At the start of the second half, both Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial were taken off for Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata due to injuries suffered in the first half.

Manchester United looked flat and out in the second half showing no attacking impetus and Psg took advantage of this by controlling the tempo and pace of the game.

In the fifty third minute Manchester United conceded a corner kick which was taken by ex Manchester United player Angel Di Maria. It was well struck to the far post and Presnel Kimpembe tucked it in.

Things were looking bad for Manchester United already and Psg star Kylian Mbappe wasn’t going to miss out as he scored his goal from a perfectly layed pass from Kylian Mbappe in the sixtieth minute.

Paul Pogba however lost his cool before the end of the match and was brandished a red card.

With a Mountain to climb and injured players Manchester Uniteds Champions League dreams could as well be over.
